Before we even ordered, we told the waitress that we would be splitting the check and how it would be split. Drinks were brought to the table and food came in a fairly reasonable amount of time. However, the server never bothered to see if we wanted drink refills and then before the bills were brought out, we once again reminded the server how they were being split. (There were 6 of us- paying for 3 meals, 2 meals and one meal). They brought our tickets out totally messed up and after at least 15 minutes had still not returned with the corrected ones. (The manager and the server were at the register trying to figure it out... And we did not have complicated orders!) We went up to pay and when we did, the manager was very rude when we were trying to show him what meal was to go on which ticket. This process took another 5+ minutes. Plus... He said there were still a couple meals from our table that weren't covered! (Seriously! 6 people and each of us had 1 sandwich, 1 order of fries and 1 drink each) He also said that they tell their servers not to split up tickets. Are you kidding me? That is such a ridiculous statement, especially in a town with 2 colleges! Having previously been a server myself, I always leave a tip, however, this time my server got about 5%. It shouldn't be that difficult to split tickets. Seat A & D pay on one ticket, seat C pays on another ticket and the rest are together. Steak-n-Shake- my advice is that you teach your management some customer relations procedures and show all servers how to properly split up tickets! I will not be returning to...

I haven't visited a Steak n Sheak in a while but entering this establishment reinforced what the kids thought of the place and reminded me why our family rarely visit.
This particular restaurant, being in a larger population of people, should be kept nicer in my opinion. The floors in the dining area were not kept the tables needed washed. I asked an employee for a rag to wipe our table and was greeted with industrial wet wipes. I thought it would spark embarrassment to him or the manager as to why their tables needed wiped but no one behind the wall cared. When ordering the customer sees the entire kitchen. The ceiling tiles are stained, the floor had multiple items on it and it looks as if the hood hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. Honestly, I'd hate to see the remaining areas of the kitchen. I did not use the restrooms but judging from the rest of the establishment I'm sure they needed help.
This visit we had a group of 15 with two other customers already inside. No interaction between employees and customers happened besides bringing out the food. They called out the name or number and left.
I get hard times. I understand lean companies but if you own or are a partner in a restaurant chain the place needs to be clean for more reasons than just to keep the...
Read moreHorrible never again worst experience ever.. We had a party of 15 and was in the restaurant for about 2 hours. Waited for our food and drinks for almost the whole 2 hrs. Had to ask several times where a drink was and where some of the shakes were. When we received our food it was cold and some orders were wrong. Other people in the restaurant had came to us and said "we came in after you ate and paid and now we are leaving and you're still waiting for your food." When the manager came over and asked if everything was OK. We tried to tell her our issues, and she told us it was our fault because we had a party of 15 and it was daylight saving time, but she would take the cold fries off the bill. When we were in line waiting to pay another waitress charged at people in our party saying we were racist, at no point did anyone ever make a racist comment that's not in us. We do not judge people by there race, we know waitstaff work hard for their money and we tip well when the service is right. I cannot believe the way the other waitstaff was acting and yelling at us very...
