I mean... It's Taco Bell. You like it or you don't.
Pros: quick, cheap, easy. (And the cheap part is a bug deal. One of the last remaining restaurants to have an acceptable dollar menu.)
Cons: They often get rid of items people like the most. (Fajita wraps [way back in the day], Choco Tacos [not as far back], grilled chicken [not that current rethermalized stuff], baja sauce [which you can still get in stores oddly enough], beefy crunch burritos, and gorditas.)
Gorditas were the the last straw for me. I used to be the most regular customer at my local TB. Story is: they took the gordita off the menu but kept the chalupa. These two items are identical except on the chalupa, the pita bread is fried, and with the gordita, it's not.
Soooo, they stopped selling the one that would be cheaper (no oil, no energy used to fry) and quicker to make... Odd in and of itself. But, the worst part of it was the fact that a lot of individual restaurants refused to make the gordita. Which would be the same as making a chalupa, but just not frying the shell.
This TB (the one on Henderson St. of my town) was the worst about it. While having a normal conversation about it with the manager shortly after Taco Bell made the change, one of the last things I said was, "Can you simply make me a chalupa but not dip my shell in hot grease?"
He get very upset and stormed off saying, "Get this guy whatever he wants." The interesting part is that he had always been cool and friendly with me. Even offering samples of upcoming items to try as to get my opinion. So my guess is that his DM told him that he CAN NOT serve gorditas. But his argument was simply, "I don't have a way to ring it up on the register."
Weirder yet, they soon brought back the "Cheesy Gordita Crunch." But still would NOT sell a normal gordita. So they could make chalupa, but not without frying it. And they could sell it unfried, but only with very specific ingredients on it.
However, this was only 1 store. Most the others were MORE than happy to make whatever I wanted.
So, had they kept even a few of the items I've mentioned before, and if they didn't have weird and varying rules to follow, this company would easily get a five-star from me.
But, as it is, they are lucky they still have much of a...
Read moreWindy cozad is a manager here and has been an absolute nightmare to meet. Her family as well, I pulled into Taco Bell’s parking lot to take a break and calm down from a bad experience at another fast food restaurant to then be screamed at in my face by windys family member. I made a mistake of pulling into the no parking space in between the handicap parking spots but I knew I would only be sitting in my car for no longer than 3 mins and would’ve left immediately if there was anyone parking or parked in the neighboring handicapped spots. I was pulling out of the parking lot just to have cozads family member a middle aged woman lose her mind at me making me think I hit her car (I never hit anything) so when I got out to investigate her sudden outburst and look at any possible damage I got screamed at directly in my face. I did do the same right back at her defending myself then that’s when windy stepped in labeling herself manager and tell ME to take a breather and leave. Never will I ever eat at a Galesburg Taco Bell it’s way too...
Read moreUpdate: Previous reviews were much higher. Today though there were no other customers inside or at the drive through. We waited a long time while.fove employees ignored us. One yelled to use the kiosk and I said we have cash. A few minutes later, somebody more forcefully yelled KIOSK! This happened one other time in fifteen minutes and then we left.
Another update: they now serve a black bean taco that us really good. Increasingly though some items are out of stock. Today we paid for large drinks and got child sized small cups.
Update: they no no longer serve breakfast that is any good. They used to serve a full menu. Now they only serve egg items things with a lot of suger. Lunch does not start until at least 10:30 depending on who is working.
Excellent food for the price. Service is fast and the workers are friendly. It is never overly crowded. Easy parking. Excellent for Taco Bell and especially good for Galesburg where finding clean restaraunts is difficult. Their dollar menu is...
