Andy’s frozen custard — Restaurant in Gallatin

My family's been trying to get out here to check this place out for a while and we finally did and our experience was decent but not great.

First of all I'll say that the staff was outstanding super courteous and extremely helpful and demonstrated extreme amounts of patients for us trying to figure out and understand the vast menu options they had.

My daughter absolutely loved her Sunday with chocolate and my wife loved her cream soda float. I actually love the cream soda float too and think next time I might go that direction.

The only downside that I had with it was that even though it is supposed to be more rich in I presume flavorful to have Frozen custard, I had ordered a banana split style item that I want to say was called cement but I can't remember for sure, but it basically in a nutshell is their version of a blizzard or Sonic blast. The strawberries and bananas that were in it were outstanding and even though I probably could have done without the nuts, they were also very good. But the heart and soul of it to me is the ice cream or in this case the custard and I have to say that I was quite disappointed in the ice cream. Until I had a strawberry in my mouth, it was so flavorless that I thought for sure I might need to come home and take a covid test. There was absolutely no flavor to it at all and it was the most bland thing I've put in my mouth since the rice cake snacks. I'm not sure why it was that way but everything else in it just had great flavor but the ice cream by itself when I got a spoonful of just it was absolutely flavorless.

Overall we're going to go back and try it again but I think I've learned from this experience that if you're going to get something from this place you have to get something where the ingredients or flavor additives essentially take over the job of what the ice cream custard stuff should have. Love the menu items. Wait times are lengthy but well understood for a new popular place. Went by today to buy a couple of the six pack to go for an office staff I was going to. First I had called and tried to order over the phone to save time but was told it would be better just to come there and order. Got to the window and was told since they only had three or four of certain flavors, I could only have “one per order”. When I asked why… I was told they had to keep them in “ case someone else who came by wanted them”. Wait … what ???? So basically it’s a pick six flavors but you can’t get two of the let’s say cookies and cream. Since I was ordering two 6 packs the girl kept arguing with me that I could only get one of certain flavors per order and I kept trying to ask well how am I supposed to get 12 total then as you don’t have 12 flavors. Spent a good ten minutes literally until another person maybe the shift leader came over. Said oh yeah you can get whatever but it may just take about ten minutes yo make. WHAT ?? I just didn’t twice that just trying yo get anything. I was so irritated. I just took what they had and left. They really need to try yo get some employees on there before it’s too late....

If you have nothing better to do, don’t value your time, and like long waits for frozen desserts this is your place. I can only rate the customer service and not the custard as we waited over 30 minutes at the walk up window and eventually just left. Before you say “oh it must’ve just been busy” we were only behind 4 small groups of people. We watched as the drive thru line moved at a relatively good pace (cars that were 10th or more back in line while we waited had gotten their items and driven away) and the one open walk up window was generally ignored by the employees. When we left there were still two of the four groups left in front of us, so we figured we’d be there an hour waiting for custard. No thanks. This place seriously needs a better system. Won’t return.

Update: Fiancé wanted to come here today (Sunday, 5/15) and I agreed against my better judgement. Got in the drive thru line this time thinking it would be much more efficient. Arrived at 12:22 pm and counted 7 cars in front of us. Finally got to the order window at 12:58 where I was told they were all out of cookie dough ice cream, our sole reason for coming in the first place. I can only blame myself for actually...
