I wouldn’t say this if I weren’t highly confident of it, as I realize the effect it can have on an establishment’s reputation, but I got the sushi & sashimi platter for two, in addition to four different orders of ramen, and within minutes of eating the second piece of sushi (tuna) I contacted scombroid poisoning. I have had very minor reactions in the past to fish past its prime, a bit of soreness on my tongue and such, but in a lifetime of eating tons of sushi and fish, I’ve had it only a few times, only when eating salmon and never when eating sushi, and never nearly this bad. My tongue swelled up to where I couldn’t speak properly, and I felt some welts swelling up further back in my throat. Thank God the hotel I had gone back to had Benadryl for sale in the lobby. If I had been dining in at the place, I’d have been leaving in an ambulance. At the studio within 20 min of purchasing it, so spoilage on my end was not a factor. I was sore enough at having spent $55 for what was immediately obvious was not well prepared or high quality sushi, and pretty intent on getting a refund, but it’s more important to me that other folks visiting the area know and avoid the same situation, as someone more sensitive to histamine could be killed. Every piece of fish I inspected was in poor shape, I would have gone with grocery store sushi over the very appearance of this stuff, and I should have trusted my gut the moment I popped the lid and laid eyes on it. Sushi is expensive to buy because it assumes the vendor to be diligent about obtaining fresh and high quality ingredients, but if the vendor does not hold up their end of the bargain, customers can be put in serious peril. If a restaurant can’t do their part in the sushi bargain, they should stay out of the sushi game. I will be reporting the same to the New Jersey Dept of Health and CDC. And if I’m being honest, the tonkatsu ramen was phenomenal, so it really was...
Read moreupdate. Regarding the owners comment. I never mentioned anything about ShopRite sushi being made to order or not. My point was that the pieces are larger and cheaper. They are also larger at a real sushi place like Mt. Fuji which makes spending the same there as you would at Mito actually worth it. If you look at other reviews, I am not the only person to bring up this issue. Ordered from here when they first opened and was unimpressed but decided to wait and see if they lasted as a business. Ordered again today and was just as unimpressed. The sushi pieces, when ordering rolls, are quite small making them very over priced. If you want bigger sushi pieces, you’ll find them at ShopRite, or a real sushi place like Mt. Fuji. And with the high prices I would’ve expected the standard take out courtesies like, you know, a bag to carry my food in like literally every other local Asian take out offers. Instead, you will be just handed your food and told to have a nice day. Want extra condiments like you would expect at any other take out establishment? Sure, you can have them…but if the prices here weren’t high enough they will make you pay for them too. I would recommend any other take out...

(Long story). BUT. This is our first Asian restaurant. In our community that we visit. I am very particular About where I take my daughter because, people's lack of kindness. But I must say my daughter was so happy to be there. It was very inviting . This was our first experience at Mito food. And I must say, This was a Very pleasant surprise in my Community. It is a very diverse atmosphere. The waitress was very informative. And kindness was very prominent. The food was fantastic. My daughter loved this so much she wants to make the place her favorite spot. Just around the corner from home. I highly recommend this place for someone who just wanted to lunch or dinner.
