Mama's Sushi & Teriyaki — Restaurant in Galt

I have always loved the food here, but I am not returning after today because Kevin was so insufferably rude, I can’t in good conscious want to help his business when he has zero respect for customers.

The short of it: I ordered two combo meals with spicy honey chicken, and they sent me home with one combo meal of Thai chicken. I came back because it was incorrect, and let them know I didn’t need them to redo the whole thing, just to get me my second combo. They literally tried to charge me again because the cashier wasn’t listening to my words. When they realized that I already paid and they shorted me, they said it would take 5 mins to fix.

Fast forward an hour and a half from my initial first order, and they finally get me the second combo. I open it up, and it’s wrong again. At this point I have driven home twice, so I decided to go back and just get a refund. I thought I would be met with nothing but apologies because they messed up my order TWICE, but Kevin was incredibly rude to me, try to tell me I didn’t know what I ordered, then proceeded to throw his hands up and say “well what do you want ME to do about it?”

Worst experience ever. Arrived at 7pm… restaurant had 2 tables with people at them and at least 6 empty tables on a Friday evening. A few minutes after we arrived a woman came in to pick up a large to go order and was helped immediately. At 7:14pm we had still not been acknowledged or even made eye contact with… I have never ever had an experience like this before… I used to come to this restaurant regularly when I lived in the area and they were wonderful… I now live out of state and I am here visiting family… not sure if it has changed ownership, or if they have just gone down hill over the last few years. Lots of tacky hand written signs all over the doors and tables… the entire look of the place was unwelcoming. Hidden gem! They have fresh sushi, and fabulous rolls. My husband and his mom love the bento boxes for dinner; the pork katsu and the chicken teriyaki are always a hit. I judge sushi restaurants by their fresh salmon nigiri, and I have never been unhappy with Mama's. The restaurant is a little small, and sometimes they get behind, but the service is always super friendly, and my favorite waitress works really hard and remembers my name now.
