Airoma Cafe — Restaurant in Garden Grove

I've been meaning to try Airoma Cafe for a while. We came here on a Monday morning and there was a small line. It moved quickly, 5-10 minutes, so it wasn't too bad. I've driven by on the weekend and the line was wrapping around and much longer.

We got 4 drinks to try and they were really good. My favorite was the Matcha Strawberry. I'm looking forward to trying the Matcha Ube next time. I also wanted grass jelly, but they were out. Overall, I enjoyed the drinks and would come back here despite the wait.

Matcha Oat Latte 4/5 - The matcha taste was strong while being smooth at the same time. It was a good matcha drink. However, it wasn't as sweet as the other drinks. I don't like things being too sweet, but in this case, I wish it was a bit sweeter.

Matcha Pandan 4/5 - Good matcha drink, though the pandan flavor was pretty subdued/light. I also got this less sweet unlike the other drinks. If I get this again, I'd just do full sweet.

Matcha Strawberry 5/5 - Definitely mix this drink well. And wow, the matcha is nice, strong, and smooth. The strawberry imparted a nice, fruity taste. There were bits of strawberry also. What I love is that this drink at other places would taste sweet and sour. Here, it was mostly sweet and the flavor profiles blended together very well.

A few days ago, I went in right after work. I was standing at the cashier counter at 6:58 PM, right in front of the cashier, but she was busy organizing drinks with another girl and didn’t take my order. When she finally returned and asked what I wanted, I told her I just wanted to order a pandan drink. She said she needed to check with the kitchen.

She went to the back, and the girl with the tattoo on her back—who seemed to be in a bad mood—stopped her from taking my order. I even offered a $30 tip, hoping they would make an exception, but the cashier looked at the grumpy girl, and she just shook her head. I then asked the cashier if she could check with the kitchen directly. Both of them went to the back and talked for about a minute. When the cashier came back, she told me, “Sorry, we stop taking orders right at 7.”

I told her I was standing at the counter at 6:58 PM, waiting for her while she was busy organizing drinks. She simply told me to come back tomorrow. Seriously? I drove all the way from Irvine to Westminster, trying to beat traffic, and you tell me to come back tomorrow? And to make it worse, today I came at 7 PM and saw that they were still taking orders. The only difference was a different cashier was working.

It’s clear that some of the employees slack off when the manager isn’t around. I wasn’t even asking for much—just one pandan drink. I even offered a generous tip, and still got...

Great boba/coffee spot for those of you who are looking for a solid spot to go! I have to say, they are pretty good every time I have been and it’s been such a good experience every time, I would have to highly recommend this place.

You can find them pretty much in the same plaza as pho 54 and they are right next to the dentist! When you walk in, it’s a very simple yet elegant spot where normally you’d be able to hang out and just chill but bc of covid, things haven’t really been opened. They are very respectful of the customers and their employees are COVID protocols are pretty much in full force there too!

When you order your drink, you’re pretty much greeted every time with a friendly and smiley face. I’ve had the owners couple times, or sometimes one of the employee and it’s been a nice chat every time!

Our go to majority of the time is the egg coffee. We’ve tried some of their other drinks like the taro or banana coffee and you can’t really go wrong with any of the drinks. All of them are well crafted and especially with the egg coffee, they always make sure to tell you how to do it properly, how to mix it, and how to enjoy it! They really care about the craft and the customer they serve.
