I've been seeing Moozi Tea Bar pop up all over my feed and decided that it was time to try them out. As I was looking up the location, I realized that this is where Tai Tea used to be previously! They have a wide variety of drinks ranging from your standard milk teas, fruit teas and smoothie/slushies. I didn't know they served macaron ice cream until I went up to order and they had a menu of all the flavors, I'll have to try that next time. They also offer fried snacks if you ever need a bite, and they have plenty of tables inside. It's perfect for hangouts or study sessions. The interior is very spacious, bright and clean. Overall, I was pleased with my experience and would come back to try other drinks and desserts if I'm by the area again.
|| L O C A T I O N / P A R K I N G || -Cross Streets are Garden Grove Blvd and Brookhurst St. -Located in the same plaza as Butaton Ramen, Sweet Honey Dessert and more! -Plenty of parking when I went around 12pm on Friday. I have seen the plaza pretty packed during the evenings though so ease of parking may be a hit or miss during the evenings.
|| F O O D / D R I N K S || Popcorn Chicken ($6.95) - I asked the cashier for recommendations because I really wanted a snack and she recommended popcorn chicken. I'm very picky with popcorn chicken because I've had it a lot when I was younger and before it was super popular in California. What makes their popcorn chicken stand out from other places is that they actually fry it with basil, and they don't skimp out on it! What makes popcorn chicken so fragrant is with the help of the basil and I feel like without it, it just tastes so plain. I got it with medium spice and that is exactly what they delivered.
Mango Latte with Butterfly Pea Tea - I've always been intrigued by Butterfly Pea Tea and the fact that they offer it with the mango latte, I knew I had to try! I do think the mango definitely overpowered the butterfly pea tea a bit so I couldn't tell if it just meshed really well with the mango or if the mango's sweetness just overpowered it. Nonetheless, I thought the drink would be super sweet (I forgot to adjust the sweetness), but fortunately, it was just right! I'll definitely have to try the butterfly pea tea as its own to determine if the tea flavor is strong or not.
Ultra Voilet - A Taro smoothie using real taro? I'm invested! This was definitely on the heavier side of drinks and felt more like a dessert than a drink. What I really liked about it is that you can really taste that they use real taro and not artificial taro. I like how they use a different cap for the smoothie cuts, way too cute! Since taro itself is pretty sweet, I would recommend reducing the sugar level if possible. I forgot to adjust the sweetness and it was just a little too sweet for my liking, but that was definitely an error on my end. It was stil a tasty drink and it's good as it looks!
Princess Peach - So not going to lie, the name of the drink attracted me because I love playing as Princess Peach in the Mario games. The drink is peach & strawberry jasmine tea topped with fresh strawberry, peach, lemon & orange slices. What a perfect name for this drink! It's super refreshing and luckily not too sweet because as I mentioned above, I forgot to adjust the sweetness level of my drinks. This is definitely a...
Read moreSince I live in the area nearby I've been making frequent stops at this boba shop at least once a week, ever since November 2021 after I learned that Tai Cha got moved out and this shop appeared. It is a small but well decorated store sitting in a busy plaza, so finding parking can be a pain since the plaza also has many busy restaurants such as Oc & Lau. The good thing is they have late closing hours, which is rare to find since there are not that many boba shops opening as late as 11 or midnight. If you want to have a late night boba run to satisfy your sudden craving, this shop is a potentially great candidate.
As for the menu items, I have tried most of the tea/milk tea selections they have. Overall, I do think they do a decent job, but some of the teas don't really leave a special impression on me. Their special Super Fruit Tea is gigantic and a great choice for hot summer days and nights. If you are a fruit tea person, I'd recommend that drink. If you aim for tea or milk tea, perhaps their Blue Garden Milk Tea might suit your taste. Personally speaking, that is the only drink from their menu that I find to have the most unique taste, as its taste in a way reminds me of the popular Korean roasted rice milk tea.
The combos come with a tea plus an appetizer, which are quite ideal for those wanting to munch on some snack alongside their drink. The fries are okay, nothing too special. Their fish balls are my go-to, although for some reason they always come out not as warm as I'd like to receive. The popcorn chicken and other snacks taste average. They have ice cream too but I personally have never tried so I have no comments on that aspect.
Overall, a nice local store worth supporting with decent food and drink quality and friendly staff. I have recommended this store to my partner and family, and we will likely continue to come back. I give it a 4/5 rating unless the quality exceeds my expectations...
Read moreThis is a brand new boba shop that's set to open soon. I came in with a friend right after a concert since we wanted boba and was looking for a place that opens late (they reportedly don't close until midnight).
First thoughts of the establishment is that I really liked the decor. It's bright and minimalistic which I personally love. The owners managed to squeeze in as many seats as possible within the small space but it doesn't feel crowded whatsoever. I also liked that the music they were playing wasn't too aggressively loud either - just enough to hear what's playing but not loud enough where you can't hear your order or cut through conversation with the people you come with.
Regarding the food and drinks, we really enjoyed what we bought, however, I feel $8 for a small popcorn chicken that has very little in it, is asking for a little bit too much. The popcorn chicken did come with ginger fish sauce, which was a nice change from sweet and sour, which is usually paired with popcorn chicken.
The green Thai tea drink I bought was just the perfect level of sweet and my friend enjoyed her tea as well, nothing of note to improve here.
Service wise, we did have some pretty good service and they made our order pretty quickly and the food we ordered did come out still a little bit hot. I think it's definitely a place to keep in mind for anyone who's out late in town and needs to hit up that boba fix. And the place does have complementary wifi,...
