Dear S&J not sure what happened with my review from last week. I know I had edited and added more information and it all was very positive. Not sure if you will get to see this edit, but I want to post it because I want people to know rhat we really liked it and plan on being back... this is my whole review **Looking for a new place close to my sister's new home and found S&J Gran Cafe. A whole in the wall kind of a place but you know most of the time they are the best. This is the case with this restaurant. They have both inside and outside sitting and when we showed up the place was busy but by the time we left, there was a line of people waiting!! The staff was very friendly worked their tails off including our servers (3). They know their menu and are quick on praising their food. They have an extent menu of drinks and coffees and if it OJ that you want, it is freshly squeezed. My husband had an Omelette that came with potatoes and toast. He actually ate some of the potatoes and thought they were very good and this man does not eat potatoes! My sister and I had the Chapin breakfast...Any Chapines out there, you will LOVE this breakfast. It comes with eggs, chorizo, black beans queso fresco and platanos OMG! They were DELISH! I don't think that they had to clean our plates when we were finished😉 because there was nothing left. The price was just right, for our meals including a side of freshly made tortillas and coffee we paid $$. We are planning on going back and bringing the rest of the tribe with us next time. ** -----*------- Looking for a new place close to my sister's new home and found S&J Gran Cafe. Read moreI had high hopes for this establishment after seeing how good the food looked online, but my first visit was absolutely terrible, and I will never return. Do yourself a favor and stay far away.
Our server was incredibly rude and unprofessional. My food, while made fresh, was not up to par. The waffles were decent, but the eggs were clearly from a liquid mix from their bright yellow color, despite their claims of using fresh ingredients. To top it off, the server messed up my order and charged me an extra $3.99 for eggs that should’ve been included. This was beyond frustrating.
My mother, who is 75, ordered a simple cheese quesadilla. Despite confirming it would be made fresh, she was served a stale, cold quesadilla that had clearly been prepared earlier in the day. When she kindly asked for a fresh one, the server became argumentative, sarcastically implying my mother didn’t know what she was talking about. When we asked to have it removed from the bill, the server outright refused and rudely stated, “That’s what you ordered.”
What made this worse was the lack of accountability. Instead of making things right, the server doubled down and insisted we had to pay for something my mother couldn’t even eat. When we asked for a manager, the server dismissively claimed they would say the same thing. It wasn’t until another staff member intervened that the quesadilla was magically removed from our bill.
As someone with over five years of hospitality experience, I found this treatment unacceptable and appalling. Respect and professionalism should be standard, especially toward elders. The server’s behavior and lack of training reflect poorly on the entire establishment.
Avoid this place at all costs. Management needs to train their staff better or risk losing more customers. I certainly won’t...

First I would like to talk about how terrible the wait was. We were seated at a cramp table as a party of 5. (Btw, the bill turned out to be ~70$, horribly overpriced for subpar food) One of my family members ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and got it immediately. He finished his food first as the rest of my family waited around 50 minutes to have our food arrive. The funny thing is, I had a grilled cheese too, but I didn't get my sandwich nearly as fast (I got it after 50 minutes to waiting too). I don't know what took so long, especially with the poor results when the food arrived.
Finally after waiting so long, I got my sandwich which you can see in the photos, was horrible. There is one small slice of cheese on both sides. The middle is filled with raw vegetables. They did not bother to grill it at all, they just stuffed it in there along with my unmelted cheese. The bread clearly was lightly toasted and tasted stale.
None of the waiters or waitresses stopped by to let us know it would take awhile. They were just staggering around awkwardly. I don't know why they decided giving one person in our family his meal instantly but choose to give everyone else their meal 50 minutes later. Horrible experience.
I got the Grilled Cheese Italiano. Does that look grilled at all to you?! They should be embarrassed.
If you live in Anaheim, just go to Country Cafe, they have better service, better food, better seating, for...
