We came today with my family and two of the server there were extremely rude. The first person was our server who just ignored our request when we asked for extra fish sauce. The second person was the one that stand behind the counter. She is a person who prepared the fish sauce and put broth in the tiny bowls. I asked for an extra fish sauce and she gave me a lecture how I didn't order enough food to get an extra fish sauce for my rice. For reference, there must about 2 tbs of fish sauce in each tiny bowl. We ordered 10 items plates with extra bowl of rice. Our family doesn't eat much. But, there wasn't enough fish sauce to finish our meal. If they are so cheap on the condiments, just add the condiments price on the menu and we will happily pay for them. The funny thing was... I would have tip them well if we have a good experience. I don't know what the owner was thinking. An extra 2 tablespoon of fish sauce condiments vs. 15% plus tip. Plus, losing a customer and all their family members from now on because of such cheap services...which one will be more...
Read moreCom Tam is my favorite Vietnamese rice dish out there so I always come to Thuan Kieu when I’m craving it. Seating is plentiful but it can get really busy and loud here so heads up. Servers are usually helpful but it’s sometimes a hit miss. It’s also Cash Only so make sure you don’t have just your card!
I usually get the Com Tam with Grilled Fish, Grilled Chicken, and the Shrimp Loaf. The chicken and fish are very flavorful and the shrimp loaf is my absolute favorite. You can pick as many proteins/meats as you want depending on how much you want to pay or how hungry you are. I tend to stick to these three even though they also have beef and pork.
Thuan Kieu is probably my favorite place to go to when I’m craving Com Tam. I even brought my husband here and he also agrees that this is the best he’s had. Giving this place a 4/5 stars because every now and then the fish can be dry and the servers could be more on top...
Read moreMy family and I, we have been to this restaurant for a long time. Food is consistently good, generous portions. Pho Filet mignon is to die for and so is the combo Cơm Tấm (broken rice combo) that is very popular and it could feed for 2. Also, their spicy beef noodle soup (Bún bò Huế), chicken noodle (Phở Gà) is worth a try... Overall, most of food here tastes good. Service could be a hit or miss depending on how crowded it is. Don't hesitate to flag any available servers if you need anything. Avoid peak hours such as lunch or dinner because you might have to wait. It's always crowded here. The only negative is that CASH ONLY, no credit...
