Jack's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Gardendale

Poor customer service and a clear lack of adequate and competent leadership. It isn't the kid's that cashier there that their managers won't invest time to coach them properly. 90% of the time the milkshakes are very runny (similar to a serving of melted ice cream but still cold). I think they're adding too much milk or blending it too long or both. Bkfst biscuits are typically stale like they kept them on a warmer overnight and just added a cold slice of cheese to the order and their fries are half the time soggy and dripping grease with little to no seasoning salt. Very disappointing overall.

8/1/25 adding yet another negative experience.

My husband and I were out walking through Gardendale the other night and stopped in around 9pm to grab drinks. All was normal.. we even had a football with us.. which I accidentally left sitting on the counter by the drink station.

We get maybe 40 yards away when I realize it and turn around.. just in time to see the employee look directly at us through the glass door... and then casually toss the football into the trash can sitting next to the beverage station/side entrance door. No wave. No “Hey, y’all forgot this!” Just a full-on “welp, not my problem” moment.

Really? You could’ve opened the door and said something. We were right there. Or at least held onto it until the following day.

It is this lack of care or concern that really puts this Jacks location on the "do not waste your time" map.

Also, they have concerning grease buildup along the pathways to each of their entrances and their grease receptacle/dumpster area looks like it haven't been cleaned in honestly a year or more. It is overflowing with old grease and has spilled out on the ground all around the receptacle and stinks to high heavens. Of course, it is in an enclosure that normally stays locked..until it is 9pm and isn't and you get a strong whif of what smells like nothing you have ever smelled before. Then are blessed with the visual of that catastrophe as you walk past. This has to be against the county health requirements...? You would think the franchisee owner would care make more of an effort to get A player management/employees in there to turn that place back around. This was by far one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a fast food restaurant. I go through the drive thru and ordered boneless wings and pay. The workers were very unfriendly, and they pulled me forward to wait on my wings. Nearly every person that ordered after me were also told to pull forward to wait on their food, although they weren't very busy. I wait for about 15 minutes and then someone finally brings my food out to me. I get home, take a bite into the wings, and it was almost completely raw (see attached photo). Not sure why I had to wait so long in line because it obviously wasn't for the wings to be cooked. I go back and speak to a manager to show them what they served me and to get my money back. She never once apologized for the raw chicken that was given to me, but instead told the cook to start checking the wings all the while seeming very unconcerned. While I was waiting for my refund, another employee asked me if I needed anything and I told hin that I was given raw wings and was getting a refund. He responded with a little snicker and made a face that made it seem like he couldn't care less. I would recommend not ever going to this restaurant unless major...

Im editing this review from 4 stars to 1 star. I have never in my life waited 35 min for some food! It's called fast food for a reason. U had 3 employees. 2 males and one female smoking in the back where dumpster is. Then you had 3 taking a break in the side vaping. So that's 6 employees breaking at one time while cars are wrapped around the building. The only one working her tail off was the female that said she had just came back from a week and a half off. There was also a man that was working his tail off. Those 2 were literally the only ones working. Then the other ones were on there phone the entire time rolling there eyes at me for wanting to get my food. Something needs to happen at this Jack's and the one off mount olive rd. Below was my experience the first time...so much has changed. We can do better people!
