We had heard about this bbq joint in Garland and wanted to give it a try. We arrived around 1:30 pm. The location has easy access and ample parking. The entrance area appeared as if it has not been cleaned for weeks. The dust and debris in the entrance area were visible and l will provide some pictures to validate that. Here is the truth though, despite my odd observation about cleanliness issues at the entrance, i did not carry it with me inside the restaurant as i wanted to give it a sincere try and an honest critique. Since it was a buffet setting, we quickly took a view of all the items in the chafing dishes and picked up our plates. The buffet items included several traditional Pakistani and Indian dishes included Beef Qeema, Biryani, chanay, paaya, beef nehari, chicken curry, saag, fried chicken, and chicken boti, halwa, gulab jaaman, Parathas, and naans. Although food was hot and the variety was plenty, the food taste was of average quality by Pakistani food standards. The things i most enjoyed included paratha, chanay, suji halwa, and hot gulab jaaman. The plastic bowls for hot gulab jaaman and hot curry items is certainly not a very good idea, the restaurant management must look into it seriously. Other items were below average. In particular, the chicken bbq had “that stench of chicken”, the saag was too bland and flat in flavors; the biryani was average. Hence I would not give this place more than two stars with lots of room for improvement. Another observation is that the chutney was sitting on the side of the chaffing dishes as an “orphan bowl of something” ignored by everyone passing by, because no one could understand what it is. No helper came and asked us for drinks or in case if we need any help. It was as if they were there to pick up the used plates like robots, no emotions displayed, no connections built with customers. Last but not least, our table had a sticky surface and while we were trying to enjoy food, we had multiple houseflies roaming on us and on our food like drones. It was quite a process to handle the situation. There were no shakers present on our table unfortunately. Here are my two cents for restaurant manager - as a professional critic, I seldom encounter a situation where I enter a restaurant and not interact with helpers or staff; bbq king is one of the few places where i interacted with zero staff, in fact those who came to pick up the used plates from our tables did not talk at all - this was quite sadistic and un-socializing. I think with little more efforts on food quality, food handling around the chafing dishes (tongs can be put on separate trays next to the chafing dishes instead of inside the dishes) , improving hygiene issues (cleanliness of areas around chafing dishes and clean dining table surfaces), training staff on customer service (interaction with customers instead of avoiding them) , cleanliness of restaurant floors and bathrooms and restaurant entrance and door surfaces and improved lighting would make your restaurant an amazing experience for the customers. The purpose of this critique is to give you pointers to uplift your business- for sure, we plan to visit again and hope to see improvements.

I would give a 0 rating for this restaurant. I had been there after seeing +ve reviews on food and recommendation from friends. Went there by cab in evening. Ordered 2 verities of roties and a chicken curry. Saw people coming in and many of them who came after us got their orders on table. When i checked with the lady who took order, she said she will check and get back. She was not even bothered to come back and update instead was keen on going to other tables and take orders. Asked her again and she left without saying anything. After some time another guy came and said my order is getting ready and will be there in 5 mins. It was already been 40 mins i placed my order. Quality of food was not that great. They didn't bothered to serve it. Just dropped the order on table and left. One of the roti had raw coriander as it is and the stiffing inside was not cooked well. Curry as well was not that great. Its hard to belive that its freshly made and it need 40 mins to prepare. Really didn't like the attitude of staff. No one came for second time. I had to go behind them to get the bill. I would like to give a 0 ranting. Since google don't allow that, i am giving 1

Food is average (or a tad below) for the buffet but the place does offer superior a la carte entrees. Order by phone for "will-call" pickup. I like the no nonsense attitude towards order cycle time, the supervisory intervention if an order is wrongly served and the pace which is neither slow nor fast - just right. Buffet (during weekends) is very fresh for all items. Management keep a watchful eye on service - truly a cut above the competition in this regard because actions are sincerely appreciated. The Mixed Grill had all the key variations. It was grilled perfectly but the spices lacked the aromaticity that I favor. The Nihari was superior as was the Chicken Tikka. In other words, there is something for all ages. Update: Owing to pandemic challenges, buffet is no longer served. Seems to be under new management. Total change in staff in dining area but some limited familiar faces in the kitchen. Unexpectedly some variations in the preparations have manifested begging the question whether continuing patronage will persist by the regulars.

Hopefully my review doesn’t get hidden and taken down for saying what I need to say. This is the worst restaurant I have ever been to in my entire life. My boyfriend and I had went here for lunch, got seated and it took a while for us to realize what we wanted to eat since we had never been there before. Being that my boyfriend can understand very few of their language he told me that the chef was getting mad at the fact that I was taking so long to figure out what I want to eat. I settled on a chicken dish and he got a barbecue sandwich. We both ordered soda for our drinks which came out of the cans instead of bottles like the menus had said. The owner of the place still around her table surveillance seeing us the whole time making us both feel very uncomfortable. It’s like he knew that we were going to write a bad review about the place or whatever. We got our food and started eating and noticed the meat was very thick for both of us. The chicken was hard to cut in the beef that my boyfriend had to gotten tasted very tough. But this isn’t the thing that crossed the line for us. Both of us always love to give the benefit of the doubt to the people that are running a business like this so we didn’t say anything. When we had gotten our sodas we had noticed they both tasted flat, so near the end of our visit after we were done drinking it I had looked on the bottom of the can to see The expiration date. The soda I was drinking expired in 2012, and the one my boyfriend was drinking expired in 2003. I felt thoroughly disgusted wondering what else was wrong with the place. It was very quiet in there is very few people besides one other couple that was in the restaurantj it was very quiet in there is very few people besides one other couple that was in the restaurant. My boyfriend who serves food as a living normally tips other servers the exact amount they are due but this is the first time he’s ever tipped them under what they deserve. we left the place only tipping three dollars. When we finally left and got in the car we looked up your previews of the place and had noticed that all of the five star reviews were from employees who worked there. In the hidden 25 reviews that were not recommended on yelp had said that people of gotten food poisoning and much worse things from this place. So please understand me when I say that this is not worth your time and money. And Definitely not your stomach. I wouldn’t go back even if you...

Had a horrible experience at the restaurant with the waiter who was Turkish, can’t remember his name but he kept forgetting what we ordered took forever to bring food to the table. After finishing our meal we spoke to him and mentioned how he kept forgetting. Instead of apologizing he snapped at us and said “what is our problem”. Spoke to the manager regarding the waiters behavior manager took 10% off the bill😂really but gratuity was still charged. The whole time the waiter glared at me while I was speaking to the manager later came by and slammed a napkin showing his anger. I paid and walked out feeling very disappointed and angry. When one goes out to eat is because to enjoy eating, enjoy the experience and sit and relax. But instead I felt demeaned by the waiter while the manager did nothing to take care of the matter. The next day I spoke to manager and expressed my thoughts once again. The manager did not apologize for the experience at his restaurant instead he took the waiter’s words and questioned me. I guess he doesn’t understand customers come first.

If this experience was at a American restaurant or or any other restaurant where they value customers I would not be writing this review. I am raged and very disappointed both at the waiter most importantly at the owner for not taking care of his customers. I would never recommend this restaurant if this was the last restaurant to eat at. Horrible experience, horrible waiter, horrible manager, horrible owner. Please stand up and prevent this type of behavior happening we do not live in Pakistan even there I had top notch experience at local restaurants. We live in America our standards should be accordingly. Please stand up for service to be served with respect. This should not be allowed no...
