Came an hour away from home to try this place out with family. Upon getting there, the menu and place was really nice. My experience was horrible though. Got in line with my spouse to order, the young asian girl asked my spouse his order and then the name for the order, not even bothering to ask if there was anything else on the order or asking me if I wanted anything. I had to tell her myself. She told me it was going to be a 13 minute wait for a cookie and ice cream, I was fine with that. My whole family got their order and after a very long time, I realized people who ordered after my family got their orders. My spouse was standing waiting to speak to someone but he was ignored by all four workers. They had a full house that night yes, but we had ordered a long time ago. After I was finally able to speak with someone seeing that my spouse was ignored for almost 10 minutes, they basically told me oops sorry! I told the same girl that initially took our order I wanted a refund. Her explanation was “We have it here now if you want it still. I’m sorry we’ve just been super busy.” I told her I understood, but waiting 50 minutes for a regular sized cookie and one scoop of ice cream? That’s ridiculous. You guys magically had it ready once I said something! She couldn’t even find our ticket to properly refund us. We told her to not worry about it anymore. Left with no order complete AFTER 50 minutes and a waste of money. Hope the extra money helps the business and makes their attention to...
Read moreOh my, I just have to say something about the lovely young lady named Marolin who helped me at Scoop N Buns. I’m a mother of three—though they’re all grown now—and I’ve been around long enough to know good service when I see it. And let me tell you, Marolin was just a delight.
From the moment I walked in, she greeted me with the kindest smile. Not one of those fake, hurry-up ones—but a real, warm smile that made me feel right at home. She talked to me so sweetly, asked if I needed help picking something, and even told me what most folks like to order. That kind of care is rare these days.
Even though it was busy, she didn’t rush me. I’m not as fast as I used to be, and sometimes I ask a lot of questions—but she answered every one of them with such patience. It reminded me of how I used to teach my kids to treat people—with kindness and respect.
I ordered 2 tres leches cake and a coffee , and wouldn’t you know it—she got it just right! Even checked with me to make sure everything was okay before I paid. It’s those little things that show someone really cares about doing a good job.
I left there with a full heart and a happy tummy. Marolin made me feel special, like I wasn’t just another customer, but someone she truly wanted to help. I’ve been to plenty of places in my time, but service like that? It’s a rare treasure.
If you ever go to Scoop N Buns, I hope you get to meet Marolin. She’s a gem. And I’ll surely be back,...
Read moreLove this place!!! A secret gem!!
Directly across from DART train station in Downtown Garland, so you can make a quick pit stop on your way home from work. Open late (10pm weekdays, 11pm weekends), so a great spot for dessert / after party. Very clean and photogenic. Wonderful place for photos; perfect for Instagram. They have a Super Nintendo emulator hooked up to TV so you can play classic SNES games with your friends or strangers. A wide variety of ice cream flavors, treats, and desserts. Their Filipino Halo Halo is VERY good! And their drinks are a rarity: I don't know anywhere else in Dallas you can find Pandan Juice! It tastes sooooooo good: creamy, sweet, and a little pulpy, you may have never tasted this flavor before. Their Honeydew refresher is also delish: light sweetness and pulpy, very satisfying.
It doesn't look like much when you drive past it, but once you open the door and step inside it's magical. I live in East Dallas, but I'll be making the trip up here a lot in near future to try more of the menu and stock up on Pandan and Honeydew. I've only been here twice and I fell instantly in love with this place. Whenever I'm in Garland for any reason, I'll go out of my way to stop by.
If you like to hunt for DFW hidden gems, this is a...
