I’m assuming this is a family ran business, so I don’t want to be too harsh just honest.
The service was okay. No one was necessarily rude, it was just a very awkward exchange. They weren’t overly busy, and my husband who was picking up was quoted 7-10 minutes for our food to be ready but it honestly took about 20 minutes. Nothing really else to say because it was a to-go order.
My California Roll was just okay. It wasn’t the worst I’ve had but it definitely wasn’t close to the best. My pieces were falling apart due to the whole roll being sliced too thin; the weight of the seaweed, crab, avocado and cucumber was too heavy for the rice to hold. I will also say it’s not a crab/mayo mixture, just crab by itself. The flavor wasn’t really there for me. It tasted similar to the California rolls you get at Walmart, just slightly better. I’m used to places like Kura or Chopstick Express off of Walnut (which was closed today). For $6.45 per roll it wasn’t too bad, so for a cheap California Roll in a pinch this place would be acceptable. Adding the wasabi and soy sauce I had at home improved the flavor a little more.
My husband ordered the Salmon Poke bowl with no pineapple. The flavor was okay for the most part, but the salmon taste was a bit off. It tasted fishier than he is used to, and he eats a lot of raw sushi. They forgot the corn and edamame as well, but everything else about the bowl tasted fine. However, he felt the price for it at $13.99 wasn’t worth the amount you actually get, especially for missing some ingredients.
It was definitely 3/5 stars all around. I would probably only go back for the California Roll for the price and if my usual cheap sushi place is closed like it was today, but it’s not my first choice. I do wish the business success, and that they do make some slight...
Read moreUPDATE June 2024 I drove up around 6PM and ordered some edamame, miso soup, and seaweed salad to make my own poke bowl. I knew better than to order sushi. While I was there, there were several frustrated customers who had been waiting for their to-go order for 20 minutes and the customer who came in after me had to hear that they'd run out of sushi rice (!) and they'd have to wait til they made more. I had hoped that the franchisees had learned more about how to operate a restaurant and make sushi since I last came, and they're so conveniently located to me, but I just don't know how long they can stay open like this.
The atmosphere is good and it seems clean and quiet, and the franchisees seem like nice people, but between the wait and the poor quality of the sushi I just don't can't recommend it.
ORIGINAL January 2024 I wanted so badly to like this place - I've been here twice since they opened and the couple who runs it and their son seem like lovely people. The prices are quite reasonable, too. The problem is that the food is not good. The fish quality is not great, and the rolls are poorly made. They often fall apart in the hand. Read moreI have been to this place twice, the first time I waited for a long time, I went during my lunch and didn't get my food till the end of it. So I was late for work. I put behind me because there was only one person working. So the next time I ordered ( 9/08/25) I did so 1 hr ish before they open and online ( they use a 3rd party called zing). They never confirmed my order, I went to go pick up around 11:20 to find out they are closed, the put a sign saying " sorry closed till 12:30". So I had to go elsewhere for lunch and spend more money, I tried to get a refund only for the to respond back saying the rejected my request due to "there is no rice ready at the moment". I would think that warrants a refund even more. Zing hasn't been able to reach them after calling them. I later find that I get another message saying my order is ready around 1:30.
