One of the best meal experiences I've had in awhile! My husband and I came here on a Saturday night to celebrate my birthday. You do need reservations so plan ahead for that.
The drink I ordered was the dream child and it was a perfect refreshing cocktail to enjoy all night. My husband got the Old Fellow and loved it! It actually gave one of our favorite Old fashions we had in Minnesota (made by a very experienced Old fella at a Lowes Hotel Bar) a run for its money!
For starters we did the shrimp dejouhn and one of their off menu specials of stuffed mushrooms and they were both OUT OF THIS WORLD! I mean, we took our first bite and just knew anything we ordered from here will be amazing. Every single dish is treated with such care, perfection and love, which I feel other restaurants tend to lose once they get super busy. We also split the steakhouse wedge salad and that was amazing, the blue cheese was from a local cheese guy who the restaurant gets all their cheese from and It's incredible.
For the main course my husband kept it simple and did the TWR Burger with his fries upgraded to the truffle Parmesean fries. The burger patty was not thick but it didn't need to be to get the job done. It was a great burger and the fries were awesome. For my main course I got creative and ordered the fancy sounding duck special and it did not disappoint! The presentation alone was 5 stars and then the taste just sealed the deal and I don't even eat duck but I did last night! We split a side of the Mac n cheese and it's the first time in awhile I haven't been let down by Mac and cheese at a restaurant. I stopped ordering it as a side because it was always so bad. Well not at The Walrus Room!
For our final celebration we split a chocolate Martin and the ice cream cookie. The cookie is thick so be prepared for that, but it's good! The drink was to die for and I just could not say more great things about this restaurant.
Our server was amazing, she was very attentive and checked up on us at all the right times! She promoted the menu and specials well and gave us new plates and silverware after each course.
Thank you for such a great experience! We...

Appetizer The only dish of the night that was good as a whole: cheese curds. Multiple pickled elements, great sauce, and great cook on the curds. Whoever made this dish, well done!
Main course Steak Biggest word of caution: do not get their Cafe Paris butter. They put SOOO much anchovy and paprika in that thing it completely ruined the perfectly cooked filet mignon (credit where credit's due - the cook on the filet and scallops were the only things done well - probably cooked by the same chef). The steak tasted so fishy and the butter was deep orange in color. That was the fifth issue of the night and frankly we were done bringing them up.
Scallops/Salad The scallops on my plate were 4 tiny scallops and everything else on the plate, including the plate itself was cold. The cabbage on the scallop dish wasn't dressed or seasoned but the wedge salad we got had so much dressing on it that there was a puddle covering the whole plate.
Drinks The first drinks we got were so bland and watered down, but they did replace them. The last drink we ordered, again bland and watered down, but done bringing up issues. We've been to other "whiskey-forward" restaurants in Geneva so many times and I always wanted to try this place.
Dessert It was my birthday and we ended with creme brulee. It was over-fired (charred rather than a nice brown) and the custard was soooo soupy. I make creme brulee pretty frequently - beyond not scrambling the eggs, it's one of the easiest desserts to make perfectly every time. We were disappointed because with the slow service, all other places to get dessert were closed by the time we ended.
We tried to make the best of it, but...
Read moreI had heard nothing but amazing things from fellow Geneva Natural Resources Committee members, so I've been dying to get a reservation and it did not disappoint!
The staff were all courteous, attentive, and entertaining, as well as accommodating. Despite a miscommunication on the reservation headcount, they found us an appropriate table and got us settled.
Dinner took a while to come, likely due to our reseating, but it was a welcome chance to sample the cocktails! If you only stop in for a drink, it's well worth it! Old Fellow and Duck and Dodo we're both fantastic. I don't remember the name of the dessert cocktail, but it was also delicious - mint chocolate chip.
I had the supper club fish fry, which was perfectly battered and cooked in filling quantity. I do wish it had a bit more sauce on the plate or on the side. Veggies were crisped perfectly and mashed potatoes were heavenly. I also sampled some fries from other plates and they were also fantastically done. The steak looked to be of quality and cooked to perfection, and the Cajun pot pie smelled amazing. Both diners heartily approved!
Atmosphere was a little loud, but otherwise attractive with many eye catching pieces. Very comfortable seating.
All in all 5 stars, worth every penny, and I'm excited to go back. Fantastic job with everything!!!
Suggestions and additional thoughts:
The coffee tasted old or oily. Perhaps the machine is dirty or it was just an "old pot." I'm not familiar with the brand, nor am I a coffee conniseur. I can say I don't like Starbucks, nor most fast coffee. Similar yet adjacent note on coffee - a brand well worth looking into is Cafe Fair by Steep n Brew! Good stuff, fair trade and bird friendly, locally roasted in Wi.
More sauce, if only the tiniest bit more for...
