Read moreTook the family out for mother's day. We all was Sitting on a picnic table wife, daughter and I Sitting on one side. My son and a friend was on the other side. We Wanted to get a picture of the family ask a couple across to take the pictures of us. My son and friend got to stand behind me wife and daughter and the table flip over on us. We are not big people at all but this table flip over spilling drinks, sauce, peppers everything except food that haven't came yet. The 3 of was covered in everything on the table. But we made it out alive. But when everything was clean up. We set at a different table we needed more cups and drinks so we go up to get more cups do the activities before. The person at the front counter gave us this look like why should I give u more cups but did so anyway. But wouldn't give me another beer. I had to pay for another one. Dam shame. Another party came to sit at that same picnic table I had to tell them not to have 3 people on the same side because of what happened to us. When The table was built they make the seats to far from the table top itself that made become a seesaw. The food wasn't that great either, i would never complain about the prices of good food.. We spent good amounts of money but was VERY DISAPPOINTED, VERY. AS we was leaving sticky as hell. The party who's now sitting at that picnic table had a person get up the table almost flips over and one there guy caught the table before it could flip. I told guy see i told you it will do that. We wasn't expecting anyone to covered our meal or anything they didn't by the way but be little more concerned about our welfare. But my family are trooper and we didn't let that experience Ruin the rest our day. We Was wanting try out a new BBQ place but I can tell you this. I WILL NEVER ,EVER GO THERE AGAIN.. I was told by owner to Email them so they can make it right. I did so and never heard anything back. So I dont recommend you wasting your time or money going to this place. There are plenty other places that will take pride in their business...
Read moreGreat Barbeque place. Very friendly and accommodating staff, and a great atmosphere.
When the line gets long, it might be a good idea to have someone in your group claim a table while in line, we use our jackets on the table and chairs.
I ate the brisket, hot sausage links, fried pickles, and slaw.
The brisket was a perfect cut; right amount of smoke, flavorful, tender, and moist. It wasn't dry or fatty; it was cooked just right. It was cooked just like a brisket should be cooked - Texas style, the right layer of fat on top to keep the meat moist and tender, it melts in your mouth. I don't use BBQ sauce on brisket, I just dip a corner here and there while eating to sample the sauces.
The hot link sausage was the same; right amount of spice and kick - tender and juicy, no need to use sauce to improve it, the sauces offered are a nice compliment, but I don't think it's needed.
The fried dill pickles are unbelievable, add the Alabama white BBQ sauce, wow! They weren't soggy or mushy, the breading/batter is crisp, the pickles we're crunchy, not pasty, which can happen when frying pickles.
I search out out good BBQ all over Chicagoland, but it's difficult. Chicago is NOT known for it's BBQ. I've lived and traveled all over the US, and BBQ is an art, it truly is. I always look for brisket and sausage, and use it as a gage. I'm not a rib or pulled pork guy, so I don't comment on them. Firewater offers very very good brisket and sausage.
I've had my share of BBQ in Chicago, and often times it dissappoints...🤔
Smoque on Pulaski in Friendship Village is unbelievable, especially the brisket (probably the best in the entire metro); too add a sauce (to me) is not needed, the Memphis sauce compliments it, but not needed. When offering the BBQ gumbo, it's worth a try.
Both are worth a...
