We will not be returning to our once favorite local Mexican restaurant. We noticed a whole sea of new faces last night as we were seated. We were handed the new menu and as we opened we not only noticed that it had shrunk drastically but the prices were also drastically higher. You now have to pay extra for your side of beans or rice whereas before it was included with your meal. We didn't let that stop is because like I said, it's our go to for mexican. We ordered some of tjat lovely white cheese dip and when it arrived it was half the size of what you used to get. It was in a tiny salsa bowl and cost $4. After 10 chips it was gone. Again, we still didn't pay that any mind and waited for our order. By this time kiwe had a familiar face helping our waiter, who seemed to be extremely new and didn't know how to use his voice. We received our order in a timely manner. This is where they lost me as a customer. I ordered fish tacos. A very easy dish and normally a very good one. I took one bite and immediately spit it out. It tasted like they just pulled the fish out of the local creek. Other than the nasty fish taste it had absolutely no other flavor. Our waiter ( the one helping the mute boy) promptly removed the fish tacos from our bill and asked if I'd like to order something else. At that point it was a no from me. We got our bill and what would normally be a $30 meal for 2 was a $30 bill for 1 even after my meal was taken off the bill. I went to the front to pay and asked why things have changed so much and was told it was a new manager. I told her I was sad to say that I wouldn't be returning only to be met with a rude smile and nothing after that. I'm so disappointed in everything we encountered last night except for our one familiar face, the waiter who tried to...
Read moreFirst time in this location based on positive food reviews but unfortunately we did not get a chance to try the food. I understand businesses, especially restaurants, are short staffed. Your note on the door stating such is a good reminder, however that is not an excuse for a rude server. We entered at noon and was surprised there was only one customer. Yet it took 10 mins for the server to drop of chips which he did and left. We had to wave him over and ask for menus, which took another 3-5 minutes. The server seemed annoyed and slammed down our menus not saying a word and walked away. Literally another 10 minutes go by and we had to once again wave him over to say we are ready to order. He appeared annoyed not saying a word. At this point, it was 25 mins after we arrived and our only interaction with our server was when we flagged him down. Then we noticed 2 other tables who sat down way after us had already received their food (but they had a different server). 15 more minutes go by. Still no food and no sign of our server. We decided to leave. I told the gentleman behind the bar about our experience and that we were walking out because of our rude server, waiting 40 minutes and still no food. His response was “okay”. This was the first time ever leaving a restaurant before receiving the meal. Again I understand being short staffed but that should not have impacted our service with initially only 1 other customer there. The rudeness is inexcusable. Overall,...
Read moreWe finally went there for the first time last night. We were pleased it was not too busy at 7:30, our group of 5 got seated immediately. Unfortunately the manager (maybe owner) who seated us did not even smile, her attitude was as if we were an inconvenience. The chairs at our table had food debris on them and one was so wobbly we had to switch it for a new seat. The table itself you could tell had been wiped down, but was sticky and there was salt and food debris in the crack where the two tables had been pushed together. Gross! Our waitress came right away and was pleasant. When she brought our drinks, instead of going around the table and serving them, she made us pass them around. FOOD was AMAZINGLY GOOD!! Burrito Cochinita phenominal! Waitress was attentive. When she came to take empty plates and offer carry out boxes, she dropped off the bill. Never asked if we wanted dessert....her loss, we would have, instead we stopped somewhere else on the way home for dessert. As we left, we passed many employees (host, manager, owner?) Nobody said thanks or bye. Not a friendly atmosphere at all. My husband and I have worked in food and beverage and service for many years, this is not acceptable service. I hate to say we will not dine there again. I might order carry out, but am concerned with the cleanliness of the kitchen based on how dirty the table was. The burrito Cochinita was so good I might risk it. Too bad the front of the house was not as good...
