Extremely hostile work environment. The GM named Vanessa Stone is very hostile. She holds employees hostage until she can find their replacements. March 29th 2025 she would not let an employee leave after the employee had quit, she wanted to keep the employee there for 30 minutes until a replacement was found. She fired me after changing my schedule. I worked 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. the night before and she changed my schedule at 8:00 p.m. changed it so I would be 2 hours late the next day so her reasoning for firing me would be dismissible because "you didn't check the paper schedule". Threatened to withhold my last paycheck if I did not return my uniform within 3 days. There is an extreme amount of prejudice at the store. They will not serve me food even if I come through the drive-thru in a passenger seat, they simply reject our service.
Another thing I would like to note is any other McDonald's you ever go to will take your order at the counter but this McDonald's in particular forces the customers even elderly ones to have their order taken at the kiosks. They have one employee always in the lobby trying to help customers with the kiosks but whenever a problem arises and the employee tries to help with their order at the register, the managers including Vanessa Stone are very hostile and do not believe in using the register, always trying to push the employee out of the way and have them use the kiosks at all costs. Whenever I go to a restaurant I expect my order to be taken at the register as it has been done for many years because the way I order food cannot be done at a kiosk.
If you can help it do not order delivery here because your order is likely going to be made wrong. I have an allergy to certain ingredients and whenever I order DoorDash or Uber through this restaurant they always mess up my order by putting on the same thing that I am allergic to even whenever I request for it not to be on it. Even at one point I ordered a McChicken with extra mayo, I got nothing except bread and an absurd amount of mayonnaise with no lettuce and no chicken. In that same order I asked for a quarter pounder with cheese with no onions and it seems there were extra onions of both kinds, slivered and dehydrated onions.
There are many things wrong with this place. They have heating cabinets where they keep your food such as hamburger patties, nuggets, McChickens, Crispies, and fish fillets up to temperature but wouldn't you like to know that they reset the timers on them so often that a fish fillet they often had served to a customer sat in the cabinet for well over 2 hours. Have you ever gotten a crispy chicken sandwich from this place and realized that it was very dry? Probably because it sat in the heating cabinet for over 2 hours, if they don't sell something they keep it in the heating cabinet and never throw it out to put something fresh in it. Quite often the burgers will come up off of the grill still pink and bleeding but they stand by the phrase, "The heating cabinet will finish cooking them," then shortly less than 5 minutes later those same burger patties will be served to the customer. The chicken nuggets are the same way that if they are not cooked entirely because one or two end up staying on top of the oil, they are told the same thing. They keep it in the heating cabinet because they don't believe in wasting their food whenever it goes bad, they would rather sell it to you so they can make their profit. Any other McDonald's in the area knows better than to swindle you for profit and they will serve you high quality food. This McDonald's is a disgrace to the Matthews management company and to the McDonald's name itself!

Read moreI only gave the 3 stars because of my last trip to this McDonalds. This McDonalds has to be the single most inconsistent restaurant I've ever been to. They have 2 or 3 employees that have worked here for years, and then about 40 that were hired yesterday. They obviously have a problem keeping employees for prolonged periods of time(It's McDonalds), so you're either going to get the perfect sandwich, or nothing close to what you ordered. The constantly new hired staff has a poor knowledge of the menu and it seems that they have difficulty putting together the simplest menu items. Such as I order a Big Mac with no raw diced onion, and they take off the lettuce and cheese as well like it didn't belong there in the first place. Also the drive-thru gets backed up, order start getting messed up, you'll get to the final window to receive your food and they will ask you to pull forward, before pulling forward I will ask for plenty of ketchup and sauce for my McNuggets or rest of my food, and they never bring it with the bag of food after you pull forward, so you got to pull out of the drive-thru, into the store, and walk in to McDonald's in socks and pajamas. This is almost every order. It goes about like this from start to finish. Pull up and expect the drive-through to be delayed, slowly order as the new hire figures out the menu switchboard, spend 20 minutes ordering, wait 20 minutes for your food, expect to get to the final window and then ask you to pull forward and wait longer, and then get the wrong food, no straws and none of the sauce that you asked for and then have to walk into the store and completely defeat the purpose of going through the drive-thru to get your order corrected. Yesterday after they asked me to pull forward, they gave the guy in front of me they had just pulled forward my food, and he had to turn around and approach my vehicle at 10 at night in the dark and try to exchange bags of food. I waited 35 minutes on an order that shouldn’t have taken no where near that long. I literally made only nine dollars that hour because it took sooooooo long to get the order and drive it to Decatur and back.
I have dashed here a lot for people and several other McDonald’s but this one has more people call in and say they didn’t get their food when you know good well they did because you watched the demands or put it in the bag and seal it. There’s no way that we can get the food once it’s packaged with even the drinks on the inside for McDonald’s so there’s a lot of very horrible liars that live in gentry and in one night in three hours I had over three calls that said not only did they not get their cookies or their desserts but they also didn’t get their drinks. I went back and told the manager she said she packed it all herself so that tells you that’s why I don’t like working in gentry. there’s too many liars that will say that you took their stuff or they never got it.
