We entered and no one greeted us, or told us to grab a table, nor was there a sign directing us to seat ourselves. We finally asked, and were told yes, but there weren't clean tables so they'd clean one for us. We were given 2 menus, even though we were a party of 4. When asked what juices were available, the waitress told us she didn't know, stared at us, but finally went back to check. We ordered our food and the only taco order at the table came incorrect (1 instead of 2, on flour instead of the requested corn, and the contents were incorrect). The advertised Machacado is not machacado, and confirmed by Virginia to be fajita meat instead. We weren't offered coffee refills either, but instead had to ask. I requested corn tortillas and they instead brought flour. The table behind us left after almost 5 minutes of no one acknowledging them (not even a drink order was taken). From my vantage point I observed Virginia watch them walk out, look back at the table they were seated, and proceed about her business as if nothing. I had to wait nearly 5 minutes to pay, while there was a crowd around the checkout stand while Virginia ran food and bussed tables. There were two other individuals working the floor as well, a young man, and a young lady. Our waitress, the young lady, was wiping down tortilla holders while everyone else seemed to be running around. Truly a disorganized mess. Virginia threw the poor girl under the bus twice (once when she brought out the corrected tacos and again at the cash box) telling me she was new and didn't know. It was clear this poor girl was given no training. I don't blame the girl, I blame the lack of good leadership to train her. We then were charged incorrectly on an item, which Virginia preceded to argue with me about, but did eventually charge correctly. We let her know that it was our first trip and likely our last visit after the continued poor experience. Her response "That's fine." And said with a straight face. I'd like to think she was nervous and it was a language barrier, but that is to give her some credit...because any good manager would not do that after witnessing first hand the continued poor service, throw the girl under bus, watch another table walk out, or ignore the crowd waiting to pay. As far as the food was concerned, it was good, but due to the truly poor service, we don't expect to...
Read moreWe were out shopping in the area and decided to roll the dice on a random, well-reviewed restaurant for dinner. Sierra’s popped up — close by, good ratings — so off we went. When we pulled into the parking lot, it was suspiciously... not crowded for a Friday night in a busy area. We almost bailed (because no crowd usually means no bueno), but thankfully we stuck with the plan. And let me tell you: we hit the jackpot.
Sierra’s is a tiny little gem — maybe 30 seats total — but what it lacks in size it makes up for with heart (and flavor!). When we walked in, we were the only customers. As you might expect, the service was outstanding — partly because there were no distractions, and partly because I’m convinced it was Sierra herself taking care of us. But even her wonderful hospitality was overshadowed by the food. The food stole the show.
We started with the classic chips and queso.
The queso: homemade and packed with flavor.
The salsa: also homemade, fresh, and just the right amount of kick.
The chips: warm, hearty, and clearly made with love — not those sad, flimsy chips you get at some places.
My wife ordered the migas with cheese and immediately declared them the best she’s ever had (and trust me, she’s a professional migas critic at this point). The standout: the migas here use hard-fried tortilla strips, not the usual soft, soggy bits. It added a crunch and texture that took the dish to a whole new level. She wasn’t a fan of the refried beans because they had a heavy pork flavor (she’s vegetarian), but lucky for me — the carnivore at the table — they were delicious.
I ordered steak and egg tacos, and honestly, they were phenomenal.
The tortillas were incredibly fresh and warm.
The steak was tender and flavorful.
The eggs were cooked just the way I like them (which almost never happens outside of my...
Read moreSuper clean with super nice wait staff.
The atmosphere is very local, mom and pop shop...nothing fancy at all, but very clean and orderly. I had no worries ordering anything from the menu.
Migas taco was perfectly cooked fluffy eggs with a great flavor profile. There was a lot of food stuffed on that one taco...great value and bang for the buck for sure.
We also ordered the ribeye steak with eggs, beans and potatoes (good brain food before school to prepare for a state mandated test)! I did not eat any, but my son loved loved it...said it was a perfectly cooked and well seasoned medium rare ribeye. It was thin cut and a near perfect breakfast steak. I say near perfect as I actually think it was too large of a portion for breakfast, but a teenage boy did not mind at all! He ate every bite!
Coffee was a standard brew that was very good. The salsa is a traditional tomato heavy red sauce that gave a tad of flavor, but not much heat at all.
The menu has lots of options ..even pancakes and more traditional American fare.
I'm looking forward to going back and trying out the lunch menu...I really want to try their green sauce!
All in all a 5 star experience...wish I had visited...
