Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Georgia

12/23/23 8:30 pm. The place was practically empty so the hostess seated us right away. The waitress came straight to our table asking for our order. We had to ask her for menus and a moment to look over them. She gave us less than a minute so we felt pressured into ordering right away. She hadn’t asked what we wanted to drink and we had to get our own utensils. After finally getting waters for the table we were receiving no refills, even after asking. Everyone has received and eaten their meals at this point except for me and my Mother in Law whom was missing part of her order. We mention both to our waitress and ask for a pitcher so that we can try to make it easier on her by refilling our own glasses. We get it, people have off days. Shrug it off and smile, right? It’s a hectic time of year for the service industry. We’re on vacation and it’s been a great day up until this point. When my Mother in Law’s missing item was delivered we again ask for my meal and a pitcher of water. The pitcher was dropped off and we pour our own glasses. There are 4 adults and one of my children drinking this water. We quickly notice a very offensive after taste. It was like drinking a bottle of perfume. We all agree something is wrong and lift the pitcher to our noses. IT WAS FILLED WITH CLEANING PRODUCT! We call our waitress over and she agrees it’s cleaner that was mistakenly given to us as staff members pass it around to confirm while placing blame on everyone, but themselves. They apologize AND ASK IF WE’D LIKE OUR CHECK! I’m already taken aback and decide I’m going to take my children to the car before things get any more heated. This whole scenario is awkward so my husband tries to avoid conflict and ask for the manager to just take my order off. My meal magically appears after I had previously requested the cancellation. I wasn’t eating a thing after being served poison! The check comes for the full price including the meal I had waited over an hour for and later rejected. My husband asked for a new receipt and THEY WOULD NOT REMOVE THE FULL PRICE OF THAT MEAL! 4 separate occasions they gave him copies of the same fully priced receipt and a secondary copy of the other split check so he just paid it. We shouldn’t have had to pay a thing if you ask me! The kicker? THE WAITRESS ASKED TO KEEP THE CHANGE! We’re all worried about potentially visiting an emergency room in a foreign place because of you and you have the nerve to ask...

DO NOT RECOMMEND- I have gone to this Applebees a total of 3 or 4 times over the past 6 months or so and EVERY SINGLE TIME except once has been terrible service. There is one nice gentleman who waited on us one time with a lot of tattoos that got it right and was so polite and courteous - so this review is not directed at him. However, each time we have gone it has either taken upwards of 15-30 mins to be seated or once we were seated it took about 15-20 mins for someone to even come to the table to talk to us just to order our drinks/appetizers. And we have tried going at all different times of the day, thinking maybe it was a timing issue - no dice, the same poor service each time. Also, the staff seems to always be goofing off in the kitchen - as the last time we went the hostess looked at us and was laughing in the back for a good 5 mins before he came to the door to finally acknowledge us and talk to us, (he kept peeking out from the back at us so we know he knew we were standing there). That same time we went the hostess was the one who brought us our food/to go boxes/checks/everything - we should have tipped her instead of our waitress who brought us our alcoholic drinks and waters and dipped. We never saw her come back again. The food wasn’t that great on that visit either, shrimp was cold and not fresh. Today we went in and the lady working the bar told us it would be 10-15 mins to be seated. Tons of dirty tables all over the restaurant and no one seemed to care or clean them to seat us. 25 mins later we walked out after still waiting to be seated. We even warned a couple that was about to walk in that we were leaving because we had waited 25 mins to be seated and were never acknowledged again after initially walking in. Absolutely ridiculous and we won’t be going back. This establishment needs to do an overhaul on the staffing/management because it’s unacceptable and theirs no excuse for poor service every time you visit a restaurant. I live nearby and this one is most convenient to where I live but I find myself driving to another one for better service now, it’s very disappointing. I decided after work I was going to Applebee's I went by myself I got there and was greeted at the door the young man sat me down and said someone will be right with you I waited 15 before he came back and said that someone come over and greet you I said no it wasn't that crowded I literally sat there and counted the people it was 14 people also there were four co-workers sitting at the right side back table 7 minutes later a young lady comes over (from my back table the guy went and said something) hello can I get you something to drink no I don't want nothing to drink I don't want no appetizers all I want is onion rings and a bacon cheeseburger medium well she said okay now it took another 18 minutes before I got 4 onion rings a well done cheeseburger with no bacon I didn't even say nothing because at this point I'm just hungry and I'm ready to go someone different delivered my food the young lady comes back finally and say is everything okay I said I would like to get my ticket to go okay she gave me my ticket of course they charged me for the bacon I open my sandwich to show her there was no bacon and I don't want to be charged for it she got another ticket which came up $16.41 I could have went home straight from work and made my own food and save $16 did I leave a tip no for what the service sucked!!! 🙄 I wonder if I would have went with someone would it have been different because everybody else was paired up and I was the only one that wasn't 🤔 I guess it's too late to wonder now but I can tell you one thing I would not be recommending this particular Applebee's nor will I be going to visit ANY...
