Nagano Steakhouse and Sushi Stone Mountain — Restaurant in Georgia

This is a Japanese restaurant, the menu is hibachi, and sushi. For restaurants this side of 78, it's sufficient. It's better than the other 3 hibachi places on 78, and the costs is reasonable.

For Japanese sushi you'd be better off looking elsewhere, take a drive out to snellvile or head into the city or hell go to publix on Wednesday. The quality just isn't there, which is a shame because this is literally the only sushi place within 20 mins of my house. If they invested in simpler rolls,(and not American cheese melted over a California roll😭😭😭)with fresher ingredients theyd probably get more business.

Suffice to say the service is fine, looks like the place hasn't changed in over a decade but that doesn't really matter to me because 78 is dying/dead and I'll take any restaurants willing to save me from driving in suburban hell to get reasonably tasting food.

I read a few of the reviews of this place, and a lot of the people who eat here don't really have discerning tastes or discriminating pallettes, just folks looking to get a lot of food for a little money to feed their family and a little razzle dazzle with the meal. And maybe that's just fine, but for me I'll probably just drive and pay the money for...

I’m sharing this because this place engages in unethical behavior IMO.

The hibachi here has always been mediocre at best, ok if you didn’t feel like driving to or waiting for a higher end hibachi place. The sushi here however is not acceptable and I don’t at all recommend it.

But the other night my wife and I got dinner here. And for maybe my first time, I broke one of my own rules: I didn’t look at the itemized receipt before I gave the waitress my CC for payment.

So she returns with a total charge of almost $80 which I knew was incorrect. I then asked to see the itemized receipt which she brought to me. And it had an automatic tip included of 15%. For just me and my wife. There’s no posted policy about them including tips and it’s never happened to me before here. That was the first time.

I demand the tip be taken off and left with paying no tip. And I’m 99% sure they added that charge simply because they knew I didn’t view the itemized receipt.

That my fellow hibachi eaters is unethical and wrong. We’ll never...

We had a horrible experience at this restaurant. Judging from the reviews we thought we were going to have a nice dinner but we were very wrong. We were seated and asked for our drink order which took a little longer than it should have. When the drinks were delivered we were not asked for our food order. A few minutes later a different waiter came to take our orders. The food came out very slow and separately. By the time I got my food another person at the table was finishing hers. The food itself was subpar at best. I DO NOT recommend the volcano roll as I was up that evening sick after eating it. Two servers continued waiting on our table of 6 which caused confusion, we had water poured in a sprite glassed and dessert brought out twice, we also had to tell the server each item we had ordered at the end one by one. Hopefully it was just an off night for the restaurant but I will not be returning after...
