We have frequented this restaurant consistently (1-2x monthly) since 2015. My wife, son and I went in tonight and ordered approximately $85 in food.
Our 12yo ordered chicken ramen. In the midst of eating his ramen, we discovered there was a piece of steel wool in his meal. Already half way done with his food, I denied returning it for a new bowl, and he ate the remainder of his dinner off our plates.
Brett the manager apologized at the table, and when we received the bill, there was a whopping 10-12% reduction off the cost of just the ramen bowl (1.55). I fully recognize accidents happen, and I really had no expectations of being compensated - but as a former chef, I found this micro gesture wholly insulting and inappropriate considering the severity of the situation. Let me be clear - ingested steel wool can cause significant medical issues, up to and including scratching or cutting the esophageal or intestinal walls.
On leaving, I said everything above to Brent, and to his credit he followed us out to the parking lot to give us a $50 gift card. I declined the gift card on principle - if I have to explain the severity of that type of situation to a manager, and the initial response is not appropriate to the severity of the situation, then we probably shouldn’t eat there for a while if ever again.
Not trying to get anyone in trouble, but it’s important to note how serious the situation was, and hopefully this note reinforces some training and practices as to not have it happen to...
Read moreStill my favorite sushi/hibachi spot in the metro Atlanta area! I will drive really far out of my way for this gem because I know I will get a quality meal, which, lets be honest can be hard to come by these days. Consistently delicious and always fast. The hibachi area is your typical experience. We’ve done that once or twice in the past. We typically get our food to go but last night we dined in the first time since the Pandemic. I always go with the Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box and my boyfriend sticks to his beloved house fried rice(I steal his shrimp) We started with pork gyoza, pan fried. The Bento Box delivers everything one could want in a Japanese dining experience. First you get Miso soup, a delightful light bright soup with fried onions (yum) and fresh mushrooms. The second course is a fresh salad with your choice of house made ginger dressing or ranch. You are wrong if you go with anything other than the ginger. I could drink the stuff. Then the Bento Box hits the table and packs a mighty punch. California roll with wasabi and ginger, Shrimp Tempura, Pork Gyoza, fried rice and the most tender chicken teriyaki over onions. You can opt for brown rice for $1 more. (They cannot make brown fried rice…I asked!) Enjoy a glass (or bottle) of sake, beer, wine or mixed cocktail. They have a huge fully stocked bar. I will continue to haunt this place till the end of my days. So...
Read moreMy wife and I arrived at 4pm Friday and the hostess seated is immediately in a booth. Hibachi seating is also available. The server was attentive and observant and took out drink and appetizer order immediately. We tried steamed gyoza and Fried calamari. Both were delicious. The calamari was extra crispy compared to other places that offer it. My wife is picky about steak wellness and was hesitant to order the Bento with steak, but I convinced her to give Atami chefs the benefit of the doubt, so that's what she ordered. She want disappointed! The bento comes with salad, beef broth soup, choice of rice, 2 fried gyoza, 8 pieces of California roll, 2 tempura shrimp and 2 layers of steak. It was too big for one meal. I ordered the Shrimp tempura. Also comes with the same soup, salad, choice of rice and of tempura: 5 - 3 inch shrimp, 2 brocolli, 1 mushroom, 1 sweet potato. All very crispy and delicious (consider that I am writing this the day after I went). Spent~$65 for all that. I think we found a favorite Japanese restaurant, and we have been to many off of Cobb Parkway UPDATE: Returned for dinner another day and thoroughly enjoyed the Scallop Bento! (except for sand in scallops :( Tempura shrimp was amazing! Light super-crispy breadingHouse...
