My first time trying this place after hearing about it for years. The food was good and nicely seasoned. Had the catfish and shrimp platter. It came with a ton of fries. That's the good. Now for the bad... This place is next door to a barbershop that has a lot of shady people hanging outside. I didn't have a problem but my girlfriend has said she also always wanted to try this place but was scared to go in because of the dudes hanging outside. She came in with me and was impressed with the menu and prices. She didnt get anything but I told her whenever she wants something from here I'll go with her to make her feel safe. Probably not much Austell Seafood can do about that.
I tried to call in my order so it would be ready when I got there. A lady answered and placed me on hold. I can hear everything in the background as I'm on hold. I hear her taking and order. Then I hear her talking to someone about her migraine. Now I'm thinking she forgot me on the phone. Then I hear another phone ring and a guy answers and their order is being taken. So I know she forgot me on the phone or just didn't care. I hung up and tried 5x to call back and no answer. So I'm wondering if they have caller ID and are upset I hung up or something. I have another businesses phone and I call them from that phone to see if they answer a different number and the lady answers on the first ring. Crazy way of running a business. I would give 5 stars if it weren't for the...
Read moreHonestly me and my roommates go here probably once a week. At first based off location and the surrounding buildings, you think it’s gonna be some rinky dinky restaurant right? You ask yourself should I be buying seafood from a strip mall? At this place- absolutely! Never had any bad food here, we’ve tried crawfish, snow crab, shrimp, blue crab, and their stuffed crab is absolutely phenomenal. We completely stopped going to places like tasty crab and juicy crab, because the prices are so expensive there and they don’t even care about the right seasons to keep the appropriate seafood in stock. You could get a decent meal here for like $15 but between me and my roommate we spend around $50, there’s just too many good options. Everything is seasoned perfectly and even the sides are perfect- we would recommend the hush puppies the most and obviously the meals include potato’s and corn with it, but surprisingly their broccoli was an interesting add on we didn’t know we needed. These guys even have their own line of sauces that are top tier. Best of all is the sweetest lady in the world at the front counter, who gave my friend a free slice of lemon pound cake on her birthday (it was also incredible and tasted freshly made). Go to this restaurant and support their business, there’s no excuse not to if you live...
Read moreThis was by far the worst “seafood market” that I’ve been to. The food is overpriced and they charge for every thing. First and last time going to this place. We spent $70 and ordered 2 red snappers and one catfish with shrimp, hush puppies and lobster rolls. Now let me back up, this is supposed to be a seafood market. Right off the bat, when I walked in I was suspicious of the fish. You know all fish markets I’ve been to have the fresh fish with the heads on ice and you can pick your fish. They had fish already processed, cut, and packaged. No whole fish and I was like WTH. Long story short, your fish comes with 2 sides: I picked fries and Cole slaw. When I tell you ny coleslaw came in a 2 ounce plastic container like you would put ketchup in. The other sides were hush puppies, fries, corn, potato salad, fried okra ($1.99 extra)! Lastly the red snapper was not red snapper. Red snapper is flaky not meaty so the fish we got was so thick and we eat red snapper enough to know the taste and appearance. They will sell you anything because they think people won’t know the difference. All of us ended up throwing away most of the food. Hush puppies were so thick seemed kind of gooey in middle. I took picture of the tiny coleslaw I received. We took an ‘L’...
