This dude was trippin' up there Friday night. Tall heavier set, not sure if he was American, looked Caucasian, whatever. I was picking up an order for Uber Eats with 2 drinks, asked him for a cardboard drink tray to carry to my car and for delivery purposes, dude proceeds to tell me we are supposed to bring our own trays. He said I know because I used to work for Door Dash. He said that a couple of times. I had to keep reminding him that I wasn't there for Door Dash. Refused to give me a cardboard tray FOR THE PAYING CUSTOMER FOR WHOM I WAS PICKING UP THEIR ORDER!!!! I said what do those cost? Well for the customer nothing but it cost us something (meaning Checker's). I said what do those cost, a penny? Couldn't tell me. What a cheapskate. I understand trying to save the company you work for money, but not handing out a cardboard drink tray for more than 1 drink? I hope somebody sets this dude straight. He needs an attitude adjustment. He wasn't right. And not to mention he asks me to confirm the order BEFORE he handed me the 2 drinks. Told him I would confirm once I got the drinks. He then goes about making other orders before finishing up with mine. If he delivered for Door Dash or Uber Eats he would know that you don't ask to confirm the pickup before you've even made the drinks and handed them over. What a loser! I told him I was going to report him, he said that's fine. Do I like to report about petty things? No! But then, don't act petty. Lose the attitude dude and stop being a cheapskate. Also, I believe he must have been getting the pizza bags mixed up with the cardboard drink trays - Door Dash does ask their delivery drivers to have their own pizza bag. But drink trays? Never! This is the first time I have ever been to a restaurant and denied a drink tray. Well, there's a first for...
Read moreIt has been a couple of years since I came through the night drive-through at Checkers, so I was confused why an automatic voice was taking my order. I drove forward to the window since I didn't receive a response. As I approached the window, I was greeted by a vulgar gentleman who had an attitude about why I didn't say my order. I told him that I was waiting for someone to speak. He proceeded to speak to me aggressively and rudely stating that's how my order is going to be taken. Again, I was unaware. I asked if my order could be taken at the window and he argued with me down stating that he is not able to and I have to drive around. Not once did I raise my voice or curse him out, because I don’t believe in acting like where I come from. Additionally, I am trying to order a burger and I’ve never seen a night worker who acts that serious over how an order is taken.
After ordering my food, the gentleman who was originally making my food came to take my money. I'm pretty sure it was because of how rude the first individual was to me. He gave me the wrong change, but he was polite about it and spoke to me respectfully. I told him to make sure the other gentleman didn't spit in my food due to him spitting while yelling at me.
If I were a man, the first worker would never have spoken to me in the way he did. I didn't even enjoy my food because of that, but I was out of options and starving with nowhere to eat at 1-2 AM. I’ll go to another location after this experience unless I'm with a male just to see how that man would react again. I don't care where you work, professionalism is key and very important. People are crazy, and could come back with someone and something just for being treated disrespectfully over how an order was taken. If you don't like your job, please don't work there, especially if you're 60...
Read moreI rarely visit true "fast food" joints besides CFA, which seems to be adjacent to religion out here. However, I was hungry after The Brothers War pre-release event at Level-Up Games (check them out, they are AMAZING!) and it was already past midnight. Korean food is readily available throughout Duluth and on Pleasant Hill Rd, but ordering late limits you to the pochas, clubs, and bars - meh. So I saw the line at Checkers and decided to give them a try.
Now, I am from Arizona. We don't have "Checkers" but we have their West Coast version, Rally's. When Rally's first came into Arizona, they were great and I loved their fries. Somehow, every one of them has gone straight downhill and I'd skip meals before I ate there. So I'm a little worried about my late night choice...
Ordering food was interesting as it's an automated system. The software figured out what I wanted without a hitch though and I picked up my food at the window. Everything was piping hot and my order was correct (wings, fries and a bottle water). Lo and behold, I got to have the fries I remembered from over a decade ago! Highly seasoned, slightly crispy, somewhat greasy and fairly flavorful. The wings were just ok - what I'd expect from fast food wings.
Will I visit again during the day? Uh, no. That area has a TON of delicious options to choose from. And food is available onsite if we go virtual golfing or to karaoke. But if I get out of a late pre-release event again...I'll might go...
