Yuki Izakaya is located on Pleasant Hill Rd in Duluth, GA. They are a Japanese-Korean fusion restaurant.
Here's some quick facts about Yuki Izakaya. The owners of Yuki also own Miss Gogi KBBQ in Doraville. The chefs from Yuki were recruited out of Los Angeles, CA to help open and work at Yuki.
I want to start with the interior and man this place is gorgeous. The didn't cut any corners or spare any expenses when it came to decoration. You definitely get a high-end feel and vibe. You would think you were in Buckhead instead of Duluth from the looks of the place. It's large, open, and spacious. It can definitely accommodate a large crowd if needed. The atmosphere is very chill. The lighting is dimmed so it really sets up the ambiance of the place.
The service is really good. The staff is very knowledgeable of the menu and will describe each of the dishes as well as recommended ways of eating it.
In terms of the menu. Although, it's Japanese-Korea fusion, you will find most of the menu consist of Japanese cuisine. This is pretty much your standard Izakaya in terms of offerings. If you been to places like Umi or Shoya, that should give you an idea of what's on the menu.
I came here for a private dining event, serving multiple courses. Here's what I ate:
-Miso Salmon Wrap -Albacore spicy tuna Wrap -Spicy Tuna Tostada -Tater Tot Roll - potato string outside -The A Roll - Spicy tuna on top -Sunnyside - egg wrapped roll -Salmon Skin Salad -Beef Tataki Wrap -Ddukbokki (veggies and rice cake) -Yakitori - porkbelly, chicken, sausage & rice cake -Yukitini (cocktail) -Summer Breeze (cocktail)
It's going to be hard to summarize exactly everything I ate, but I will start by saying the presentation was done nicely here for all the plates. Nothing felt like it was just thrown together without any thought behind it. In terms of taste, most of the dishes had some great flavor. I will comment on the freshness of the sashimi, which is a hard thing to find OTP. I really enjoyed the cocktails as well, nice flavor and not too strong.
Overall, I enjoyed my visit and experience here. The food and presentation was on point and delivered on all fronts. The food tasted great for the most part. If you're looking for some quality Japanese definitely check out Yuki Izakaya. It'll save you a trip to the city...
Read moreNice restaurant! Their menu is mostly Tapas but they do have larger dishes available. Vibe was really calm and restaurant was very nicely decorated.
Their menu is long but since they mostly have Tapas, that made sense. It's split up in sections of Sushi Tapas, Sushi, Kitchen Plates, Kitchen Tapas, etc. We ordered something from each section.
Service was friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout our experience. Nothing but great things to say about the staff.
Order Spicy Tuna Tostada Recommended by the server. This was not spicy-mayo based like other "spicy" sushi, which I really liked. This was a highlight of the meal and will definitely order these again. Very unique tostada and sushi fusion. The sushi tuna was served in mini taco shell tostadas and was packed with flavor. 5 come in an order and I honestly should have ordered at least one more order because they were THAT good. Hit all of the key flavors/textures in one bite - spicy, sweet, salty, tangy, soft, and crunchy.
KFC Bao Bun 2 in an order. They were good but IMO lacked some flavor. Would benefit from some extra sauce. Chicken was crispy and buns were very soft. Didn't really get the Korean Fried bit but thought it was more tempura fried.
Short Rib Yakitori 2 sticks with 2 pieces of meat, eat. The meat was tender but most of the flavor seemed to come from the sauce on top. I thought it needed some seasoning.
Bluefin Nigiri 2 pieces per order. Really good! Very soft texture and tasted very fresh
Salmon Belly Nigiri 2 pieces per order. Really good with a very buttery texture/taste and tasted very fresh.
Sweet Shrimp Nigiri 2 pieces per order. Really small and not very flavorful. Kind of had a "soggy" texture, for lack of a better word. Came with 2 huge, fried prawn heads which were decent.
Bulgogi Roll Not a big fan. Was basically a bunch of sushi rolls with underseasoned/undermarinated bulgogi on top. Not exactly sure what was inside the rolls except for vegetables.
Tempura Fried Shrimp 4 pieces per order. Very light tempura texture and flavor was a little bland.
Overall, would visit again to try other items on their menu. They definitely had a lot of options. Come come back again just for the spicy...
Read moreOverall 3/5: Located next to the old Toys R Us, Yuki Izakya is very nicely decorated, but fell short my first time in tonight. This place is very confusing as they serve sushi and ramen, but on the sign it says modern Korean pub. There were not many Korean dishes that I saw on the menu.
Food 2/5: The food was okay, but it might've been what we ordered, I guess. My friends all rave about the place, but my family and I just did not enjoy it. We opted for a bunch of sushi rolls and some other dishes. The Dancing Eel was okay, definitely not one of the best eel rolls I've had. The super crunch roll was better. The calamari was super crispy, but a small portion. We also got the crispy bulgogi and the flavor was funky tasting. My brother also got the donkatsu (crispy pork culet) which had the breading falling off. At the end of it he had a big chunk of just breading with no pork. Everything was super small portioned, for food that just didn't really taste good. I'm never one to complain about prices, but this place was just not worth it.
Service 3/5: It took a while for us to get greeted, my aunt had asked for hot tea to begin with, but we got our food before receiving the hot tea. Then after that, we had to ask again. We had to ask our server for soy sauce and water twice and he was just always in a rush. He wouldn't have had to walk back and forth so much had he stuck around to just hear what we needed, but he was just eager to walk away from the table. We of course tipped 20% still. We probably didn't order the right stuff because although the server saw us struggling on what to get, he did not give us any help or recommendations. Very weird. Not a great experience. We had some food leftover and were not really wanting to take it home with us. It was also super strange to us that the last time to put in an order was an hour before closing. Usually, it's 15-30 minutes before closing that the kitchen closes.
Environment: 4/5: It is very nicely decorated, but I think they decided to focus more on aesthetics instead of quality food. Super modern and clean inside. All the food was presented on nice plates, and they had good branding on everything.
Thank you,...
