My wife and I decided to take our grandkids to Cracker Barrel even though the last two times we had to wait a long time to be seated and for food to be served. I could tell we had a new server so I tried to be patient and cut her some slack. My wife ordered a breakfast and the grandkids wanted the kids pancakes. I ordered the kids fried chicken tenders and fried apples. After about 30 - 35 minutes She finally brought my wife's and grandkids order but only my fried apples, saying it would be several more minutes on the tenders. She came back after about 5 minutes and said they had dropped my chicken tenders so it would be several more minutes. When she finally brought them my wife and grandkids were finished. When she brought the check they had charged me for my sweet tea and for the kids milk. When I asked about it the manager was not very helpful and just said kids breakfast don't come with a drink. They didn't even offer a discount for my food being so late. On top of that I bought an item in the gift shop for my granddaughter that didn't work when we got home. I've pretty much decided not to return until things improve at this Cracker Barrel! Well now I know I won't return! I went to return the item today that I had purchased for my granddaughter. I took it to the counter and told the girl I wanted to return it because it didn't work. She looked at it and said "It needs batteries." I said "No it doesn't, it doesn't take batteries." She then proceeded to take a small screwdriver and tried to open the compartment on the bottom. She didn't believe me! After fooling with it for several minutes she finally gave me the cash and I...
Read moreSo, my wife and I love eating here and have for many years with our kids and friends. Every time the experience is the same. You walk in and go through their store which has so many cool things from clothes to games to candy. Then you make it to the desk where you wait to be seated.
So, this time was abit different in that the restaurant was not busy but we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. I found that odd but since there were 5 of us, we were considered a large party. There seemed to be open tables but we had to wait. That, I found abit frustrating.
So we walked through the store and I found a spring dress for one of my grandchildren and bought it. That was very expensive. I knew things were expensive but that purchase really made me feel I was being taken advantage of.
The food was great and I have never had a bad experience eating there. The service was fast and the food was hot and the cost was competitive to abit cheaper.
I do feel the store front prices could be much less, however, as many of their items were over priced and cheap as far as product quality. I understand this is their 'bread and butter' but couldn't help to feel I was being ripped off in the end. If the prices, across the board, were cut by 10 to 15% that would have helped and I think the restaurant chain would still be profitable.
We will still continue eating here but, unfortunately, my feelings toward Cracker Barrel has been tainted. That's just me so take this from the source; one...
Read moreI dislike leaving a bad review and make it a policy NOT to, but this location needs a management wake-up call. We were surprised that the restaurant was almost empty at 8 am. on a Sunday. It didn't take us long to figure out why. When the hostess sat us, we noticed a nearby table with visibly unhappy customers. From the looks on their faces and their frustrated body language, they had been sitting for a while without service. They didn't even have drinks. The hostess stopped and told them that someone would be by soon but didn't offer to get them drinks. Not good. We looked at the menu and made our selection while we waited for a server to greet us. Nothing. Oddly enough, the hostess also gave us lunch/dinner menus at 8am. Not the end of the world, but strange. I got up to use the bathroom, and when I returned, still no server greeting. We opted to read the signs, cut our losses, and leave. As we left, there were 3 employees standing at the hostess stand. They barely noticed us leaving even though we spoke as we passed by. This is definitely a management/training issue. We love Cracker Barrel for a good breakfast. It's a shame to see one go down this road. There were enough employees present to run the restaurant efficiently. They just weren't doing it. I'd be willing to bet that this location is not meeting revenue standards. A little training, good staff guidance, and a local recovery marketing campaign could...
