As someone who owns multiple businesses, I hate having to rate another business this low, but I’m hoping it gets the attention of the owners and they make the correct changes.

I’ve have been coming here since the day Fire it Up was opened. The food was phenomenal. The portions were appropriate and the staff was delightful, friendly, greeted everyone upon entry. It felt like we were welcomed with open arms. The brisket was some of the best I’ve had, and I’ve had a lot. Most of the sides were great. I had occasional problems with soggy fries or onion rings because they are made and put under a heat lamp, but they would happily make them fresh if requested. I brought many people here… Over 50 at least. Everyone agreed the food was some of the best bbq they have had and raved about every aspect.

Over the course of this year, I have watched it change drastically and it’s awful to see.

To make it simple-

The service and food has went from top tier like Chic-fil-a to more of a “McDonald’s” food quality and service.

The staff does not look happy to be there and treated me as if they weren’t happy to be there. Yesterday, the employee that takes yours meat order would not say a word to me, threw the pack of meat on the table, slammed the door, cut it and threw it in a box. The sides young lady wasn’t much better. She couldn’t say anything either, though, as she was shoving her mouth full with fries and onion rings while getting side orders together…it was disgusting.

Checking out was fine. Nothing special. No thank you. Just here’s the bill, pay it and leave please.

I’m truly appalled. This review isn’t just about yesterday. It’s the culmination of the last 8 visits. Each one, I had hoped would be better the next time and it was just a fluke before. Now, I do not plan to return ever again and will make sure everyone I know does the same. If management wants to reach out, and make the appropriate changes, I will gladly wait a few months and check it out again. But until then….well.. It was absolutely wonderful...

Extremely rude staff, placed on order on uber eats and the menu had drink options for small medium and large but no drink choices. So I thought I would call the restaurant and let them know my drink choice. The girl who answered the phone said she couldn't hear me and asked another employee to come take the phone cause she "couldn't deal with me", the next person who came to the phone informed me they do not take uber eats orders. I explained to them that I had made the order and she wrote down what it was that I ordered and said they would get it ready for the driver. I was then called back by the restaurants general manager berating me for calling them to simply let them know what my drink order was for when uber eats showed up to get my order, I can understand these are two different entities between the restaurant and uber eats, but to call me back a literally fuss at me and talk down to me because I just wanted to make sure my drink order was correct since their profile in uber eats didn't have choices once you select the size was completely uncalled for. She talked to me like I was stupid and had no business calling them at all because they have nothing to do with uber eats. I was simply making sure the driver would have the correct food waiting on them when he got there. The general manager had a very disgusting attitude and I was pleasant as can be with her, even when she continuously disrespected me by speaking to me the way she was. Will not be ordering anything from there again in person or through any delivery service. Regardless of WHERE I placed the order, it is never ok to meet your paying customers with such a disrespectful and disgusting attitude about simply calling your place of business pertaining to an order that I have paid your business for....

Update 5/14 - went to fire it up again today. Got 3 meat combo for 25 dollars. Ribs were stellar, brisket dry, pulled pork inedible. It was dark brown and about 100% void of moisture. Wife picked mac and cheese good, and collards. She said someone must of not had a grandma to show them how to cook greens. 2/5. I really want to love this place as I live 1 mile away. If I'm honest if feels like everything is reheated and poorly kept and just reheated sucking the moisture out.

Update: From 5 star to 1. This place is no good anymore. I hate it for the new owners because Fire it Up used to be owned by competition bbq crew and since has been sold. Ever since its sold, I have gotten nothing but reheated, dry, sometimes ice cold in the center BBQ. I no longer order brisket because its so dry and gross. Last time I got a pulled pork plate and had to ask them to let Chef Mike (Microwave) warm it up, which is what I believe they do with all orders now. Hence everything being dry and gross. Your lady at the front register is the best, shes very nice and helpful but the food is what really counts. Step it up Fire it Up, have a reopening. Realize you're tanking this business right now.

Old review: This place is a gem. Delicious, clean and great choices. The only thing that could make this place better is if they were open mondays.

The best choices in my opinion are brisket, smoked sausage and pulled pork.

Only try their hot bbq sauce if you are ready to spit fire. I tried it before I knew and ended up having to throw the remainder of my plate away as it...

I live 40 mins away from this place. Have been coming for 5 years now. Nothing wrong with the food at all. It’s great! Employees will ruin your business if you let them. I sent a message to their office trying to avoid making this public but I suppose they don’t have any interest in hearing complaints. Ordered a family pack comes with 3 pints of sides. One side comes in a container (Mac and cheese) the other sides which was double okra was just poured into a box with bread on top. I glanced at the amount and said I had 2 orders of okra. The lady goes to the back and they tell her it is 2 orders. Of course I’m looking at this and I’m like it looks like it would all fit into one container like the Mac. I asked if they would put it into 2 containers like the Mac and when I open the containers this is what they consider two orders (see photo). Now the Mac was full to the brim. The containers widen as they get to the top. I wish I would have took the one and filled the other to the top so you could really see the difference but I took the picture to show exactly how I got it. What makes this so bad is the awkwardness it took and the looks I got when I brought the issue up at the counter so it’s not like they were busy it was like 3:30pm. This was intentional not just a simple mistake My order was $102 I gave $120 said keep the change. Not even sure why I tipped before any service given and the fact I had to stand and order my food and fix my drink. Never again will I tip on to go order at this place.

Updating one year later: Over the last year, we have come in to Fire It Up a ton. Our last few visits were not great, but we thought maybe we had just caught them on a bad day. The most recent visit was a deplorable experience. We even had friends visiting from out of town and had been excited to bring them here. When your own employees apologize for the way that some of your new hires handle the customers, you know you are in trouble. We found out they are under new management, and while I cannot say if the decline of service, courtesy, quality and pricing are related to that fact, I hope that someone will take heed. It will be a long time before we would consider returning. Original review: Our first time here, around 7 pm on a Friday. It was busy, but the line moved at a reasonable pace. The good: the turkey and brisket were moist and properly cooked. The restaurant looked clean. Decent portions The so-so: seasoning was lacking. I assume that it's because one assumes that sauce should be used. Sausage was unremarkable, just seemed straight boiled. The not so good: mac and cheese and cornbread were both dry. In the case of the cornbread, extremely so. Perhaps because it was at the end of the day, but still. We ordered small drinks, but we were given and charged for large ones. Overall: worth giving another try at a less busy time.

* update, i went back and tried the brisket ruben. It was very good, the only thing was the sauerkraut tasted a little off but over all i enjoyed it! Of course the sweet tea is amazing! I also think the coleslaw is delicious 😋 Customer service was great! Unfortunately the brisket was dry to me. So i just couldn't finish it. The pork was pretty salty so it was kinda hard to eat but it was still pretty decent in taste. The ribs we haven't tasted. There was a 20 min wait which was totally fine, however it ended up taking way longer so we took them to go. Fish plate was so good! Flavorful, flakey, good golden crust. The dill tarter sauce was a great addition!! Chicken wings were good with a crispy skin. sauces they offer with them are also great. The sides. The mac & cheese was disappointing. It was seasoned so it did have some flavor but it wasn't cheesy it was kinda oily with a tease of cheese. Fried okra was yummy Collard greens were yummy i did like those The baked beans. They were okay not really my version of baked beans i like. The stew was pretty good as well i recommend pairing it with the jalapeno cornbread. Everything pictured was a little under $107.
