Easy to find, on Five Forks Trickum, across from the QT, between Oak Rd. and Dogwood.
We love this place! Wonderful, and wonderfully generous, authentic entrees and delightful salsa bar, so easy to explore new flavors. Unlike so many TexMex restaurants, instead of being delivered to your table upon sitting down, you order the chips and salsa and they both are “homemade” fresh and delicious! Worth every penny of the reasonable price, don’t miss them. Then, the choices, the choices...and everything we’ve gotten there has been exemplary. We’ve tried the tacos, flautas, burritos, fajitas, and the Mexican shrimp cocktail, etc. first because we know these from other “Mexican” restaurants. We’re ready to branch out now! We have confidence that anything we try will be very good! We haven’t been anywhere else since this place opened and it’s in our neighborhood. YAY! We would gladly make a drive for La Placita, though, well worth it. We often get it “to go” and it arrives just as good as in-house, and enough for leftovers. But, when there, it’s a very casual atmosphere; you place your order at the counter, ask any questions you may have about the choices (and there are many), then have a seat. The orders come out quickly, and meantime, visit the salsa bar and get samples to try. It doesn’t cost extra and you can go back. My ONLY suggestion to the owners would be to offer 1/2 orders of each entree for those of us who can’t eat as much and/or don’t prefer leftovers. Just a suggestion...it could be “children’s menu” but allow adults to order also if desired. GO! You will not be disappointed. Kudos to the owners, chefs and all...
Read moreMy family decided to try this relatively new reastaurant, La Placita Taqueria, on Five Forks Trickum near Oak Rd. after reading a great review on the Next Door app. What a delicious delight! I think it was one of the freshest, most authentic Mexican meals I’ve ever had, and certainly the best ever in this Lawrenceville, Lilburn, Snellville area. Although a thriving community, there are only a couple of restaurants at this intersection of 3 zip codes that I would highly recommend, and this one shares #1 with the Tipsy Pig for quality, taste and value. This is a casual spot and does have various beers available. The food is really, really good! My daughter and husband both had the burrito la placita, one w/ chorizo and the other (I think) w/ chicken. They were very happy! I had the flautas, which I sample at almost every Mexican or Tex-Mex place I go. These were hands down the best! Very fresh and the chicken was extra flavorful, yum! Plus, there is a bar of all kinds of various sauces to choose from, spicy, mild and medium, all delicious. The tortillas, both chips and used in main dishes, are noticeably handmade. We’re so excited to have this place so close to home, reasonably priced and outstanding freshness and flavor. Goodbye, Frontera, you’ve been way out-done. Friends, let’s support this awesome new...
Read moreI was working in the area yesterday and had a hankering for something like this. I am so glad to have found La Placita Taqueria. I ordered the enchiladas platter, with carne (steak) and rojo (red) sauce. The food was so good! I am not sure that it was chile de árbol that they use in that salsa but the flavor was excellent.
I was back in the same area again this morning and I couldn't help but go back again. This time I got the enchiladas platter with carne, but switched it up for the verde (green) sauce, which was equally good. This time I was not in as much of a hurry and so I ordered my food "for here" and got to discover how good their salsa bar is!
Service was quick and the dining room was quiet at the time of day that I visited on both occasions. The second day they had a little sign on the countertop that they had tamales de rajas, which are filled with pepper strips and cheese. That is one of my favorite tamales so I had to try it. The large chunks of cheese inside were so good! They won't always have that variety so you might have to visit a couple of times in order to try it for yourself, but with how tasty the food was I don't think that you will be...
