Couple things,...

This review may be long...

This is not a fine dining establishment, and if you go in there thinking that, you'll be one of those that give it a neg review.

With that said, I really like the place. First time was today, I plan on returning. It's difficult to find restaurants that serve vegetables. Theres very few options in that regard near my place.

Employees were very friendly. My waitress was heather. Very nice. Great service.

Yes its definitely an older generation hang out, but that's totally cool with me. I like to talk with people, and experience matters, so that wasn't a big deal to me as it clearly was to other reviewers.

Food was good. Now I didnt try everything. I'm a diabetic, so I was super duper happy to find vegetables, but I did try a couple things just to see..

They had from what i remember..

Fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, country fried steak, Corn, beans, green beans, mac and cheese, collards, mash pot, some kind of rice thing, fried okra, corn bread, rolls, salad and all the fixin's, soup, pies,

From the stuff I had, collards, green beans, corn, country fried steak and gravy, mac and cheese, beans, coffee, water.

Everything but the mac and cheese was delicious.

Small issues I had, it was in need of a cleaning. It wasn't nasty or anything close to that but it did look like someone dropped the ball on cleaning but it was certain things...

Examples, 1 of the clean plate buffet stack was not clean,

The trim on the walls had dirt caked up...

Small things...

Overall opinion?

I really enjoyed it, and look forward to going again. Good vegetables plates, buffet with coffee water $10.50 plus tip, right down the street from me, I'm good to go.

The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 was the dirty plate. It looked like it went through the dishwasher, but wasn't pre washed. Food was still viable around the center edge...

Final thoughts...

Some of those people that left reviews are LOL worthy... you got a strand of people that all know that 1 girl that got fired, and they all left bad reviews because of it. Then that 1 guy that hates old people lmao

Bad mac and cheese...

This place is really underwhelming. It needs a lot of updating. The food is mediocre at best. The fried chicken they're selling I don't think is actually chicken. It looks and tastes more like squab, or pigeon, to be precise. The cooks need to learn how to cook mashed potatoes. What comes out is a giant lump of potato-ish stuff. Probably out of a box. Many of the vegetables are straight out of a can. Someone should teach the cooks how to cook pork chops. They are a mess; hard to identify them as pork chops most of the time. Looks like a hunk of meat overfried and overbattered and shriveled up. The collards are seriously overcooked. I don't know if they've been cooking all day or if they're left over from yesterday. I'm sure if you searched the refrigerator you would find a lot of leftovers from the day or week before. Can't understand why so many people are giving great reviews, because this place is mediocre at best. The servers are very nice and don't miss a beat. But I wish the food could stand up to a great review. The whole place seems a little unsanitary. The men's room needs the right soap in there with all of the sickness going around. It wouldn't hurt to invest in something that was anti bacterial. In reading past reviews, I see the people from a year ago saying the same things I have said, and your response was that you were going to improve things. But you did not. Your orange macaroni is still there along with frozen lettuce, which means it's being reused every day which is very unsanitary. Just because you're trying to keep costs down doesn't mean that everything should be frozen, like salad. No one does that. No one. Why don't you make some noticeable changes to the food? Its appearance, taste, seasoning. There are many serious chefs you could hire to come out and teach you what to do correctly. I'm willing to bet there are a lot more people dissatisfied with what you do, than you know. I've been there 3 or 4 times, and I had the same complaints to my fellow diners that I'm writing here....

Mannnnn, I was really looking forward to trying this place after reading some positive reviews and seeing the pictures but it was pretty awful! Let's go through each item.. The baked whiting was inedible - fishy, super salty, tough, and DRY. The fried chicken was kind of ok I guess. I was able to eat a few bites after drenching it in hot sauce. The mac and cheese was the worst and WEIRDEST I've had in my life. It was sitting in a container halfway filled with orange watery liquid. No flavor, definitely no cheese, and just odd blandness. The greens were cooked properly but bland - they need some ham hock or vinegar or something for flavor. Even the coleslaw came half filled with milky water. It was more like colesoup. The dessert was some type of pudding or cobbler I think. Not sure what it was supposed to be. The only part of the meal that was good was the little side salad and the dinner roll. What a bummer. 90% of the meal is in the trash and I'm about to order a second meal from a...

Home style buffet. Very affordable. Fried fish, veggies, deviled eggs, broccoli cheese casserole, apple cobbler, banana pudding and jello. I was too hungry and finished my first plate of fried chicken, country fried steak, yams and mashed potatoes before I thought about taking pictures.

Wow. This place was wonderful! They had everything you could want. Chicken, soup, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, beans, deviled eggs, desserts, and more! Big shout out to Dakota and Lori for making the experience perfect! I can't wait to bring my family here!
