Really disappointed in the service I received at madhouse. I went all the way out there because I saw a drink by another content creator on Tik Tok. When I got there she told me the drink I saw on Tik Tok was $30. I hesitated at the price since I knew I wouldn't drink it all in 1 setting. I had just ate at another place. So even though I went there for this drink I asked if there was a smaller version. She showed me a smaller cup and said it would be $7 but then I asked if we're allowed to take drinks out. Not being from Georgia I'm unfamiliar with the area and laws and some states allow people to take their drinks so that's why I asked. She said I could take the drink to go if I didn't drink it all. We talked about how in Maryland they're very strict about open containers and it's illegal. Literally had a whole conversation about this. So I go with the $30 drink with the understanding I'll take it with me. I sipped some and then I asked for the check. She gave me the check and I then asked for a top for the cup since I'm obviously taking it with me. She then says I can't take the drink to go. So now we're in the awkward space. Cause we literally had an entire conversation about me taking the drink to go, the law in Maryland, how things are apparently different in Georgia, ect. I probably consumed 4 oz out of a 30 oz container. I'm not a wasteful person so throwing out 26 oz of an alcoholic drink is just crazy and I would not have ordered it if she did not tell me I could take it with me. I would've just bought the $7 drink. That would have made more sense. So I bring up the conversation we had and she doesn't really know what to say outside of I'm sorry. This is awkward for me and I'm not arguing over $30 so I told her I'd just pay for it anyways. She says okay and appears relieved because she knows I could've said I wasn't paying for it. So she starts acting weird and goes in the back for a long period of time as if she doesn't want to be here when I leave (possibly with the drink). My Uber comes so I grab the drink and proceed to the car. I literally get in the car and a woman came running out of the restaurant. Not only did she open the car door after I got in and before it pulled off (which alarmed the driver) she began to assault me as she was trying to grab the drink. This entire ordeal was crazy. After this ordeal happened and I'm explaining it to the Uber driver he expressed concern for the store's policy. He informed me that he carries a gun on him and the restaurant should not send untrained and unarmed people to go into cars not knowing who might be in the car and if they have weapons. No drink is worth someone's life. Either they should have security or they should be calling the police but they should not be putting their hands on anyone or opening anyone's car door. I'm writing this review here since comments on their Instagram are filtered (my brief comment regarding this experience was deleted) on one of their posts and I know they cannot delete comments on Google. In talking to my friends, they believe the bartender lied because mandatory gratuity is included on every check so it incentives them to recommend higher food items. The crazy part is that I always tip over 20% in cash when I go out so she definitely missed out on a higher tip than what she would have gotten if she were just honest about the carry out policy in Georgia. Including a picture...
Read morePretty good food, terrible service. Our waitress did not ask for our drink order (for like water, soda etc), never brought the mozzarella sticks we ordered, and assumed 2 of our party wanted water since we did not ask for a drink (since we were never prompted/given the chance too). When one of our party got up and asked her to bring us some drinks, she said she was going to wait until our food cane out to give us the drinks (not the way most places do things). Also, half our parties orders were brought out way before the others’ food was- and as I said before, the appetizer never showed. While there, we observed a cpuple who arrived before us but never got there food and just got up and left. I also observed a lady get up from a wobbly table that then tilted causing her glass of beer to fall on the ground and shatter- instantly a waitress yelled from the back/bar area, “oh no, that’s coming out of your check!” - after assessing the situation she said the customer wouldn’t have to pay for the glass since the wobbly table was to blame. She said “you get off this time.” Also, the restaurant was ICE cold- the waitress said the thermostat was set to 75 but that it’s always freezing in there because otherwise the wood floors get slick. We were never offered a drink refill. Also I was charged 50 cents for choosing yellow American cheese for my Philly cheesesteak (the description on the menus said your choice of white or yellow American cheese- I didn’t know what white American cheese was (does it mean provolone?) but there was no charge listed on menu or mentioned by the waitress for choosing yellow cheese. The waitress seemed to think it was dumb that I was charged for it but said that’s just what happens when she selects yellow cheese on the computer. I could go on and on about all the negative parts of this experience but I’ve said my piece- just wanted to warn anyone planning to eat here- don’t do it. The food tasted pretty good but the service and atmosphere was just bad/ I would never want to...
Read moreRevisit Update (September 2024): I wanted to share my review following my recent revisit to MadHouse. My first experience was less than ideal due to the customer service, but I decided to give it another shot because the drinks and food were great despite the service issues. This time, I had a fantastic experience. Our waiter, George, delivered exceptional service from start to finish. He was attentive, friendly, and always available. His kindness and positive energy were exactly what the place needed, especially in an environment where customer service can sometimes fall short, particularly among female servers. George is a valuable asset to the establishment, and I hope his efforts are acknowledged. Unfortunately, many bar and lounge establishments have a reputation for female waitstaff being dismissive toward female customers, even though we are paying customers who tip well. I hope this trend changes in the future, but for now, I look forward to more experiences with people like George. If you’re considering a visit to MadHouse, I highly recommend asking for George; he’s the right person for the job!
Madhouse had an enjoyable atmosphere. The appetizers were delightful, and the Dragon Berry cocktail was exceptional. Unfortunately, the service didn't meet expectations. We visited at a time when it wasn't too crowded, yet our server was not very attentive during our visit. I place a high value on customer service, and the long waits were disappointing. Even though there were plenty of servers present, they seemed to lack focus on the customers. I really wanted to order another drink, but the service made me hesitant. Moreover, the parking situation is quite restricted; parking on the grass by driving on the sidewalk isn't ideal for safety, especially on a busy road like Old National. Despite my appreciation for the drinks, ambiance, and food, I'm unsure if I would return because of the service, unless I could sit...
