At a time where people are quick to blame covid for poor service and quality, Newk's is killing it. This is now my number one favorite fast casual restaurant, and honestly it's as good as or better than some casual restaurants, without the wait! We had an order of a pesto chicken sandwich with the tomato basil soup and the lobster bisque with a Newk's cheesesteak. We both picked up brownies when we ordered at the counter before sitting down with our table number. As you can tell from my photo, one brownie was a whole lot larger than the other one, so you might want to ask if you want a smaller one or a larger one, because they both cost the same and they had more in the kitchen than what was displayed in the grab n go cooler. They were scrumptious--cold (refrigerated), but soft, dense, and chewy. They serve craft sodas in a drink cooler on the cash register counter (I think one was jalapeño cherry?), bottled water, and fountain drinks. It was a little noisy, a little crowded on a Thursday at noon, but we didn't have any issue finding a seat. There is a huge variety of seating options here. I counted 6 different types of seats--booths, an area with a view into the kitchen, a tall table, regular tables, tall half-chair-half booth tables. It's a pretty interesting place. The food came out 7 and 1/2 minutes after we ordered. I timed it. Everything was fantastic, but I preferred the tomato soup and the pesto chicken to the bisque and the cheesesteak. I would go back for that tomato soup alone! It was slightly chunky and so flavorful. The meat, peppers, cheese, bread, everything about these sandwiches was fresh, beautiful, just spot on. The staff was nice, accommodating, attentive. The place looked clean and was well-organized. We are excited to go back here soon. Seriously, why haven't you eaten here yet?! Read moreI had the worst experience ever when I went last night when we first walked in we were greeted rudely by a “ manger “ he said they were close so we were like the website said you guys close at 9. Then he was like oh okay what do you guys want to eat. Me and my dad had already told him what we wanted we were just waiting on my mom who was telling me her order on the phone. He then proceeds to say no I can’t do this and rush us out the door. So we left and called & asked to speak with a manager he said he was the manager he gave me attitude on the phone and he didn’t care about anything I was saying. So I told him there was a white couple in there eating and they weren’t being rushed but we were ! When I seen the conversation wasn’t getting anywhere I asked for corporates number he said he didn’t have it but when I called another location they gave it to me with no problem. I then ask for his name and he gives me a fake one. For this to be a highly recommended restaurant my first experience was terrible and i would not recommend this...
Read moreEdit: Originally reviewed 2 years ago. I still enjoy the pizzas here. The vegetarian ones are also quite tasty. I dislike the Parisian bread used for their sandwiches, but there's the option to substitute it for wheat berry. Their chicken salad was really heavy on the mayo. Would have liked less of that as it overpowered a lot of the other flavors. More grapes would have helped balance the savory/creamy with the sweet. Otherwise they absolutely jam packed the sandwich with the helping of chicken salad. Their chilli was decent with just the right amount of kick.
Was really pleased with my first visit to Newk's. The BBQ chicken pizza was tasty. Of course you don't get a very toasted bottom crust, so it's a bit flimsy. But that's what the fold technique is for. The half ceasar salad was almost overflowing the bowl. Great portions in my opinion for this order. However I did observe some people who ordered a 1/2 sandwich, which looked fairly small. Will definitely be back to try their cake and...
