From the moment you step in, there's no organization. The person taking your names for reservations uses a notebook. There's no system for calling or texting in advance. However, they took our phone number to call, but disregarded. This happened to a few others as well. There is no regard to an order, or priority. They just scratch the name off and move to the next regardless of them actually calling for you. Granted, once we came in, and questioned it, we got the next table. But imagine if we had been waiting for that call.
When it comes to food, it was actually pretty good. We ordered the chicken lollypop, which came perfectly crispy, seasoned, and with a side of tangy sauce. We absolutely devoured this.
Apollo Fish and Kodi Vepudu were both alright. We asked for spicy, but all dishes came out very mild. These two dishes in particular seemed to have been flavored well on the outside, but the flavor didn't carry throughout. I'd forego the Apollo Fish for the Kodi Vedupu.
Kothu Parotta (Keema) also had the same problem. It came out of the kitchen with too little salt. We eat relatively little to begin with but we'll take this home and season it ourselves to improve on the flavor. This dish's portions were good (definitely a heavy meal) but would've been great under different circumstances.
For beverages, we got the mango Lassi and buttermilk. The mango Lassi was nice and thick. Probably not the best pairing with the food we got, but it had a good sweet flavor to wash down the food. However, the buttermilk, with masala, was AMAZING. It was very refreshing and perfectly flavored. We got one and then my wife, and I, ended up ordering two more. Definitely recommend getting this if you visit.
As for the server/waiter, Abhilash, he did an amazing job. He was singlehandedly managing most of the tables, taking orders, and cleaning. He was very attentive, and conversed with us nicely, even though they were severely understaffed. We didn't feel like we were rushed, and enjoyed that personalized attention. Abhilash was definitely the highlight of our visit and I hope he gets the recognition he deserves. This restaurant wouldn't be worth coming to without people like him bettering the customer's experience.
If not for Abhilash, this would've been a 1 star because of how our experience started with our names being scratched off of the...

Read moreIf you are looking for an authentic South Indian dining experience, Rajni South Indian Restaurant is the place to be. As someone who appreciates the true flavors of Tamil Nadu, I can confidently say that Rajni does not compromise on quality or taste.
The menu features all-time favorites like Bhai Kadai Biryani and Ambur Biryani, which are cooked to perfection and remind me of the traditional biryanis back home. The South Indian Parota with Chalna is a must-try, bringing the rich, layered texture of the parota together with a flavorful, spicy chalna that’s simply irresistible.
The seafood options are equally impressive. The Karimmen Tawa Fry and Kariveppilai Eral Masala stand out for their freshness and expertly balanced spices. And let's not forget the dosas—Rajni offers a variety of dosa options that are out of this world. Each bite is a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to authenticity and flavor.
One of the most unique offerings at Rajni is their Elaneer Payasam, a dessert made from tender coconut. This traditional Tamil Nadu delicacy is light, refreshing, and perfectly sweet, capturing the essence of the region’s cuisine. It's a rare find in the U.S., and Rajni nails it every time.
Rajni has become a weekly staple for my family. Not only do we enjoy the delicious food, but the exceptional service makes every visit special. Whether you’re a repeat customer or a newcomer, the staff treats everyone with warmth and hospitality, making you feel right at home.
Additionally, the pricing is very reasonable, especially when compared to other Indian restaurants in Atlanta. It’s rare to find such high-quality food at such an affordable price.
Rajni South Indian Restaurant is, in my opinion, one of the best South Indian dining experiences you can have in the United States. As a South Indian foodie, this is high praise, and Rajni has earned it through its unwavering dedication to delivering the true flavors of South India. Highly...
