When you walk in, the ambience is great! You think finally we are getting an elevated Indian restaurant by an Indian here in the US. (Right now the only solid elevated restaurants are franchises from India). And that’s where it ends.
We sat down and there was food all over the floor. No one had cleaned it up. They brought us plates that were cleaned properly. The water glasses had a layer of grease that was floating in the water. We had the staff change it 3 times, and despite that utensils were so dirty. Even my dishwasher does better in cleaning that what they have here.
Service was terrible. There were 13 tables on our end and only 1 server. It took them 15 mins to bring the menu. That too we had to tag someone down. Then we had to get the server to come take our order, and when he did many items were missing. Why didn’t he tells us when he gave the menu?
Then the manager came to us and we told him how we have high hopes for this place but here are our concerns. The man did not even look down at the unclean area we pointed out once. He saw the plates were still dirty. Just nodded and smiled. And said sorry our plumbing isn’t working. So if your plumbing isn’t working we have to eat on dirty plates? Any other place would have the plates personally washed (after hearing that 3 exchanging three times didn’t do the trick). Or something else to fix the issue so the customer is happy. Or bring someone to quickly clean the floor so your customers can eat in a clean area? Nothing. Nodded and smiled and left.
Food came and food was good. Nothing extraordinary or different. Good food you can find anywhere. But service was as such, curry came but not the naan. It finally came after multiple tries and by then our food was cold. Veg biryani had no flavor.
What I’m shocked at is there are multiple restaurants with better service right next door - rajni, jay Bhavani, honest. So shocking that these owners have paid no attention to what is helping those ppl thrive. And it definitely isn’t putting up fancy paintings.
We could have given the place another try but the managers lack of interest in providing good customer service has convinced me good customer service is not their aim.
Last picture is of how the paneer was delivered - just looked like things thrown on the plate with half the food falling...
Read moreA group of us - 5 adults and 3 children visited for tea on a Sunday evening after a stroll at a nearby park. Out of the seven restaurants currently open in this complex, we chose this one as we like the other Hyderabad Café. We were happy with the selection of snacks available. We saw a notice saying snacks should be purchased at the counter and that's what we did. We were told that our tea would take a few minutes to be ready and were asked to take a seat. After some time, on two separate occasions, we had different people asking what we'd like to order and we stated that we are waiting for our tea and snacks and they seemed fine with that. The snacks were brought to us and they were enjoyable and the tea was good, though it was not as hot as we would have liked. After we were done eating, we were still talking among ourselves. The server came over and asked if we would like anything else. We agreed among ourselves that we were done. Before we could acknowledge to the server that we are done and are just about to leave, the server said something to the effect of are you planning to order something else or just keep sitting here like this? We were all flabbergasted with such a rude and unnecessary statement when we had already got the message that we had been expected to leave when the server asked if we want anything else, and a few of us had already started wearing our jackets. Mind you, it was around 6 pm and only 10% of the restaurant was occupied. If the server had waited for a moment more, he would have seen that we were almost on our way out. We felt quite offended, and these few sharp words really put a damper on an otherwise pleasant outing. I don't think we will ever think of visiting this place again. In all my 25 years of going out to eat, yes, we have been gently encouraged to either order something more or move on, but never been blatantly insulted with such a direct statement. I think the servers need training on how to speak with customers appropriately, whatever the situation. My impression of "Hyderabad Café" has seriously taken a hit after...
