Table for 2 for Dinner
We arrived at the restaurant and quickly realized it was connected to Cumberland Mall—so naturally, parking wasn’t an issue thanks to the mall’s shared lot. It was pretty busy, but we were able to find a space without much trouble and made our way inside. Upon entering, we let the host know we had a reservation. They checked the system and told us they’d notify us once our table was ready. Honestly, there were about five or six people lingering around the host stand, and the overall vibe was a little flat. No one really greeted us with much warmth—it almost felt like a scene from a zombie movie. The first thing I noticed was the dim lighting in the dining room. It gave the space an upscale, elegant feel. As I glanced around, I spotted a few tables that looked like they were hosting prom dinners—young folks dressed up, clearly celebrating something special. After waiting around 7 to 10 minutes, we were taken to a massive booth that could easily seat eight people. It was just the two of us, so that felt a bit odd at first—but we adjusted and made ourselves comfortable. Our server arrived promptly and handed us menus. We mentioned that we’re beer lovers, and she came right back with the beer and wine list. Wifey chose the Terrapin Los Bravos lager, and I went with the Creature Comforts Tropicália—both solid picks. After scanning the menu, we decided to start with a couple of appetizers. She ordered the deviled eggs, and I went with the lobster bisque. Our server quickly got those orders in and returned shortly after to take our entrée choices. Wifey opted for the lobster roll with parmesan fries, and I went with the shrimp and grits. The appetizers arrived not long after. My lobster bisque was served in a large bowl with a generous portion, and it was absolutely delicious. Wifey really enjoyed the deviled eggs—they were a hit.Our server, Asia P., was fantastic—very attentive and checked in often without overdoing it. When our entrées arrived, my shrimp and grits were steaming hot—literally. I could see the steam rising, and I loved that. I always appreciate food served fresh and hot. Wifey’s lobster roll and fries looked like they came straight out of a food magazine—great presentation. We dug in, and every bite was outstanding. My shrimp and grits were seasoned to perfection. Wifey took a bite of her fries and said—and I quote—“they’re buttery good and the whole meal was delicioso.” Both of our meals came in generous portions, and we ended up with leftovers to take home. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit to Stoney River. The food was top-notch, the service was excellent, and the ambiance had a classy, high-end feel. We’d definitely recommend...

We made reservations, showed up on time, and was properly seated. The ladies upfront did an excellent job getting us to a reserved table that felt cozy.
15 minutes after we were seated, we were finally greeted by a shift manager named Megan. She did a wonderful job asking if we wanted anything to drink or an appetizer to begin with. However, after asking her some questions, you could immediately pick up that she was not educated on what gluten was. I don't believe this is her fault since she is a shift manager. Surely there is a training program or someone to teach her? She did her best coming back-and-forth between the kitchen and our table trying to figure out what items have gluten in them and what items did not. She was very helpful.
After she placed our appetizer and drink order, we were approached by a server name, Will. We saw him approximately 25 minutes after we were seated. He let us know that he would be our server and asked us if he could get us any appetizers or drinks. We let him know that Megan, the shift manager had already helped us with that. Although we had not seen the drinks yet or the appetizer. Minutes later, they all came out.
We ordered several drinks throughout the night, and each time it took between 11 and 15 minutes before they came to the table. Maybe that's because we had to ask on the status of them?
Working through the menu with Will, we have come to the conclusion that the team here is un-educated on what the restaurant actually provides and serves. I wouldn't get mad at my five-year-old daughter if she didn't know how to read. I would look to the teachers that should have taught her in school. I'm not upset at the team members here for not knowing the menus or their items on it. I think the general manager or the persons who have built a training schedule for this facility have massively failed. I would like to think the kitchen knows what they are doing because our food was actually really great. But sadly, I can't talk to the kitchen.
Also, it would've been great to see food runners, pre-busing tables, as they walked by and saw dirty dishes stacked up on the ends.
All in all, this facility does not deserve the stars that it has on Google. Again, I do not believe it's the staffs fault. It is the management and owners who need to educate the individuals who are selling their products, and teach them how to be an actual 4.5 star Resturaunt.
I still tipped 20%, even though this was...
Read moreWas looking for a nice place to celebrate both me and my guy's birthday. Wanted to try something new with a nice ambiance. Stumbled across this place and saw all the good reviews and it wasn't too far from us, so decided to go. Had rsvp'd but was about 15 mins late, therefore, had to wait for our table for about 10 mins. It was a Saturday a little after 7PM and it was prom day, so it was a bit busy. We got seated and then (forgot the young man's name) the waiter came over in about 3 to 4 mins later. Told him it was our first time, so he explained their menu, specials, etc. I ordered the steak rolls (appetizer) and for dinner I ordered some kind of crusted chicken parmesan with mashed potatoes and asparagus. My guy just ordered the grill chic salad. He brought out some bread that looked like donut holes with some butter before the appetizer. The bread was soft and a tab sweet, but not too sweet and they were so good that we asked for another serving, which was a mistake bc we kind of got full off that alone...lol. However, when we got the appetizer, I was very pleased bc those steak rolls were sooo good and will def be my go-to whenever I go back! Think we got 6 of them and they were a good size not too small...cost $13 I believe and it was worth it! Then the meal came out. The chick parmesan was good, but too salty! My guy's grilled chick salad was salty too (the chic not the salad)! I had to tell the waiter bc they needed to know. He told me they soak their chick in salt water. So I'm assuming when they season the meat, it adds more salt on top of it soaking in the salt...geez! Other than that, everything else was good. Note to the cooks: Please be mindful on how much salt you're using! The chicken was good, but just too salty for us. One other thing, don't think the mashed potatoes were real..taste like box mash potatoes...not bad, but for this type of establishment authentic is expected. Overall, we like this place and will return to try diff dish next time, but keeping my steak rolls on...
