Well, first off this place would have 4 stars but there were some small differences I noticed. Nothing that's a total deal breaker for this first visit.
Upon first coming in there's an odd smell that almost and usually would cause me to leave immediately in any dining facility. But it wasn't repulsive, just not what I expected. Definitely wasn't pleasant though. I found out later maybe it was cleaning agent smells maybe combined with the food smell (from my visit to the bathroom with a tub of fabuloso on the floor and a dirty bucket with a mop against the wall. Probably need to fix that..) there was hardly walking room or room to pay at the counter and the seating arrangements were not ideal or capitalize on the small space. The young lady at the counter was everything. I ordered the pad Thai level 2 spice which came very fast surprisingly and a bit spicier than I expected a level 2 of 5, but no problem there. I'm not very picky. The flavor was also very yummy which helped with my indifference. The noodles were dry which I appreciate when Thai noodles are not oily. But it was almost too dry, like it was prepared awhile ago. The chicken could also be confused for too dry but it was also still ok to eat. The green onions were wilted like they were not exactly freshly steamed in the dish. So the quick service with those observations makes me think my particular dish was already done. Also, maybe I need to ask for the peanuts to be separate instead of already on top of the dish...but that was odd because it's usually separated from any other restaurant from which I've ordered pad Thai. I was ravenous today so I SMASHED because I'm not very picky. But I need to come back again to just make sure I didn't come for the first time and get the last of the barrel or whatnot (freshness and quality). Overall, the flavor and...
Read moreWe joined our friends who have eaten here before. They always enjoyed the food. Here. We sat down and ten minutes later they brought menus and took drink orders. When he came back with drinks he asked what we wanted to start with. We started off for appetizers with spring rolls, chicken Laab, and the spicy ground chicken. Well we got two of them and when the first two appetizers were almost done, we were finally able flag him down to ask about the third one. He said the spring rolls take longer. Ok, no problem. Fifteen minutes later he brings them out and we order our meal. Now we all ordered different meals. I ordered the Pad Sie Ew. Out of our four meals they came our maybe 10 minutes later. One at a time. My meal was a little slow and I thought I would wait because they were a little busy. However when we all realized that their meals were almost done, I tried to flag the guy down. FINALLY getting him, I asked about my meal. He saw that everyone else had theirs and by now clearly done except for the need of a box. He said he would check. He came back five minutes later and said it was on its way. Right, he no doubt forgot about it. We had to be some where so once he brought it to us, we asked for the tickets and boxes. (thank goodness for appetizers and friends sharing their meals) I was able to get two bites in before we had to leave for a show. I am not sure we will go back to this place. I did notice a lot of takeout orders and maybe that is the way to go. When I was able to get a taste of my food I would give it a 4. Service a solid 2. To eat in, I would give it a 3. There is other Thai places I...
Read moreNo idea why this place is so highly rated, it didn't impress me, nor my dining companion. The slooooooooowwwwwwwessssssst service Ive expirienced in a very long time. This would have been tolerable if the food we got was amazing, it was not. It wasn't awful, but it was definitely not worth waiting 45 minutes to appear on the table, and THAT was the appetizer. It was another 20 minutes before we saw entrees that were extremely mediocre. Thai food is so often flavorful, spicy and awesome, I ordered Pad Thai and there was nary a vegetable in sight. It was sickly sweet and gummy. The noodles overcooked and sticking together. Thirsty? Well too bad. You might as well go next door to Kroger and grab a drink because they aren't going to be coming around anytime soon with the water pitcher.
Furthermore, it was not very clean. The table was sticky in spots, the bathroom pretty gross. Not really sure what happened on our visit but at this point I would rather try someplace else in the CRSA for Thai. They just did...
