Aug 27, 2021 On Aug 27, my hubby and I celebrated our 15th anniversary. We decided that we wanted to have dinner at a place we had never tried; after looking at reviews and comments, last week, we booked reservations at Brix 25 in Gig Harbor. After we arrived at the restaurant, we were able to get seated early. To my dismay, it wasn't a table with a view, although I had requested one. And technically, I could see the water off at a distance, but that required me to be looking over other patrons dining there, which didn't seem right. My hubby had a view of a car and some bushes. Unfortunately some of the photos we viewed are a bit deceiving; although the restaurant's location isn't on the waterfront (like some of the pictures made it seem), it was close to it.
About our Dinners. First of all, if I could rank on presentation alone for both entrees and the appetizer, I would rank them a five-star.
We started with an appetizer, Thai Larb Lettuce Cups, and ordered some bread and butter, which happened to be a sourdough with compound butter. Both were delightful, and the lettuce cups were full of flavor; if you order them, be prepared for them to be a little messy, but the flavors were so there! We would order again.
My dinner was the Seared King Salmon, kale, whipped potatoes finished with squid ink, plated on herb aioli, with Sicilian green olives, sun-dried tomato, and parmesan sauce. Our server asked me if medium rare was alright for the salmon; That was a new experience; I've never had that asked before when ordering salmon, none less, I agreed. Although my salmon being reasonably good, the portion amount was lacking in size. I can't honestly say it was above and beyond my expectations.
My hubby's dinner was the Pork Chop, served with baby potatoes, veggie, and a garlic caper sauce. He enjoyed the flavors but commented that the pork chop is a little on the more challenging side. After taking a little taste, I was shocked that the beautifully plated chop was indeed not as tender as it looked, again on the smaller side.
Brix 25 offers outdoor dining, which is great if you have pets tagging along or for safety reasons such as Covid.
The restaurant was clean and uncluttered; tables were tidy and spaced apart well, with no soiled tables and odd smells. However, we feel the price of their menu didn't match the look and feel of their restaurant, which happened to be more of a laid back relaxed feel than a place that charges $29.50 for a seared pork chop, IMO.
Restrooms were all-gender, clean, with no funny smells, no soap residue, or unkempt floors.
Brix 25's location is 3315 Harborview Drive, Gig Harbor, Washington. The restaurant is within walking distance of Harborview Marina. If you have never been to Gig Harbor, it's a beautiful little town with a variety of eateries and shopping experiences and a view to die for, a must-see for anyone who is visiting!
Keep safe, and please keep supporting all of our local...
Read moreour waiter was a gentleman and lovely. He was incredible, warm and kind. However every other staff member was rude to me and my family. We went to celebrate my sisters graduation and there was a miscommunication about the time of the reservation(we made the reservation about five days earlier, but the had the wrong time, the hostesses told us our reservation had been a half an hour earlier than the time we had, but they never contacted us when we didn’t show up/were late) The two hostesses were massively rude about this, they blamed it entirely on us, and were laughing and smirking at us the whole meal like high school mean girls. I asked if we could put our names in and wait for a table to be available and they told us it would be about thirty minutes, an hour and 15 minutes later they finally let us know that a table was open, when seating us one of the same hostesses was blunt, cold, and kept adding weird endings and extra letters to my family’s last name. The girl who bussed our tables never said a single word to us and every time we tried to say anything from thank you, hi I’m “”, asking for a glass of water, or compliment her she rolled her eyes at us. As a waitress I know it can be tough to work in food service, with big parties and tough situations but I have never behaved the way the staff members (other than our waiter bless him) did towards my family during our dinner. I have never seen host and bussing staff in any restaurant I’ve ever worked in behave that way towards guests. even when the reservation was messed up, which the host to my face blamed me and bullied/teased me for messing up, and after they had us wait 50 minutes longer than they told us with no updates, we were nice and all smiles just trying to find a solution, but the two hostesses working (Saturday May 13 at 7:30) were so immature and rude that my entire family was puzzled and commenting on it the entire meal. While our waiter was awesome and went above and beyond (he made us feel actually welcome) we will never recommend this restaurant to anyone and advice those looking not to come here if you want to be treated as An equal/with respect. The food was so good hats off to the hard working kitchen. unfortunately the staff was so pretentious (other than our waiter he was so cool!!!) that the entire experience was awkward and ruined and we felt judged...
Read moreWe’ve been wanting to come here for so long! They're only open on limited days each week, so finding the right time was tricky — but we finally made it! And it was everything we hoped it would be.
We had a reservation and arrived a few minutes late, but they welcomed us warmly and guided us straight to a beautifully prepared table without even a hint of annoyance. To our delight, we were greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne as soon as we arrived — such a lovely touch that set the tone for the rest of the evening.
The interior has a modern, wooden feel — clean, spacious, and full of natural light thanks to the white-themed decor. Tables are spaced well for a sense of privacy. The restaurant has three seating options: a ground floor, an upstairs area, and a terrace — and you can choose where to sit. We opted for the ground floor, which was cozy and calm. Parking is also available, which is a big plus. We also noticed a family dining with a baby, which was nice to see — it’s definitely a kid-friendly place.
For starters, we enjoyed crackers served with cambozola and chutney — absolutely delicious. They even brought extra crackers without us asking. Alongside this, the Mexican-flavored black bean soup, garnished with crispy tortilla chips, perfectly enhanced the flavors. Such thoughtful service!
We tried two cocktails. The first was a sweet yet bold combination of rum, maple, and chocolate(Oaxacan Bloom). The second was a sparkling cocktail with mint, coconut, lime and a touch of jalapeño(Spicy Coconut Mojito) — super refreshing with just the right kick. Unfortunately, we forgot to take a photo, but it was as beautiful as it was tasty!
For the main course, we had the steak and the pork chop. Both were cooked to perfection. The pork came with a slightly spicy, sweet sauce that paired beautifully. And the mashed fried plantains on the side? We seriously want to learn how to make them at home — so unique and tasty! The grilled veggies were lightly smoked and perfectly done. Everything was spot on. While we chose meat dishes this time, the menu also includes seafood and vegetarian options. Next time, we’re definitely trying the seafood!
The portions were generous, so we, unfortunately, didn’t make it to dessert this time... but next time, for sure! We’ll definitely be...
