Drove to Gig Harbor on a lovely misty PNW day. The waterfront area is not a particularly touristy area like neighboring Poulsbo but has a few attractions and a number of well regarded dining options. Netshed No. 9 is one we chose and it was true to its great ratings. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Being a misty winter day we chose indoor dining. The dining room has a charming rustic vibe that is tastefully restrained in the manner of the stolid Scandinavian fishermen who were early residents. The view out the window of the water and boats moored was attractive and added measurably to the charm. The outside seating did have tents for those who wanted the fresh air but the real treat would be in the summer months for dining on the deck. The menu has a selection of great breakfast/brunch dishes. A lot of familiar dishes but with their own twists that were successful in tempting me in almost every dish. They emphasize their skillet of warm cinnamon rolls. As we were only two we sadly passed that up but vowed to bring more people the next time to make this dream real. I chose the hash which was a beautifully inventive hash with twice roasted pork, potatoes, peppers and roasted tomatoes topped with a cheesy sauce and two eggs. It was substantial but not overwhelmingly so. A great balance of portion where no one would feel shorted and many would ask for a to-go box. The hash also came with toast and homemade jam also excellent. My partner had the frittata and noted that unlike so many places, this was perfectly cooked. Still moist in the inside as opposed to the leathery sponge so often served. She noted that the tomato jam on top lent a delightful tang to the dish. Again a good sized portion that did end up coming home in a to-go box. Overall a real delight and...
Read moreHello everyone and thanks for reading this review. I guess I've said in the past I don't like to criticize restaurants after just going there one time so this is just my initial review. My family and I with my mother went to this restaurant here in Gig Harbor the other day. Funny, I've lived in Gig Harbor for eight years and it's the first time I've ever been here. Fortunately for us it was a beautiful sunny day a little windy and cool so we ate outside on the terrace overlooking the water. Our server was very good atmosphere was great. Like most restaurants it really depends on what you order! We are from Miami, Fl so of course I tried their "Cuban" sandwich. It was-ok- I'll say that. The big thing with any Cuban sandwich is how its constructed. The bread is Very important, a long with the meat proportion. So that being said it wasn't a bad tasting sandwich or just wasn't that great of a Cuban sandwich. I did order a small side salad along with it which was honestly Fantastic. Not your regular iceberg lettuce it was very well-constructed tasted great I was very happy with it as was my daughter with hers. Parking can be a little tricky so if you cannot find a spot down there little driveway you'll have to park on the main road. Being that they are hidden away that's probably the reason I've never eaten there. Now that we know where it's at we will go there a couple more times and I'll give a different review on something else that we've tried. Like anything else I am a working family Man and we honestly don't have the money to be going out a lot eating food. It is absolutely a restaurant to go and eat at. Visit and try your own different dishes there. I would highly recommend going there! I hope you find this...
Read moreI ordered the mushroom frittata and the original sourdough cinnamon roll dish. My partner ordered the BLT sandwich. The cinnamon rolls came looking burnt. Our waitress wasn’t around for a bit, so i talked with another server and asked if the rolls were burnt, because the crust were dark brown and hard. She confirmed they looked overcooked and she sent our waitress to come see us. After me explaining to her about the rolls, she said that was normally how they made them with a “so be it” attitude. But she did ask me if i wanted new rolls and, of course, i said yes. The 2nd set of rolls came in looking just a tad bit less burnt and not looking the normal cinnamon rolls we see everywhere else. I decided to just shut up and go with that second set.
The hash brown (squares) were rubbery, dried and some were definitely overcooked with black edges. My partner had the same hash brown order and she reacted exactly the same way.
Her BLT came with tomato jam that she didn’t realize was sweet. She thought it would be savory jam and it totally ruined her appetite as guacamole and eggs was sweet because of the tomato jam in her sandwich. She ended up eating only the bacon strips from the sandwich.
My frittata had tomato jam on the top and disliked the sweet taste on my frittata, so i scraped it off. And it came with very few mushrooms and leek pieces in it. It should have come with more. The frittata was overwhelmed with eggs.
My advice to this restaurant is to put tomato jam only on the side, because there are people like us who hate savory and sweetness to be put together.
And please go easy on cooking as to not overcook the potatoes,...
