Have been several times now, and have a mixed perspective.
On the plus side, they have a decent location along the waterfront but, for reasons that are unclear, no outside or harbor view seating. So count on being inside in a spacious, clubby space with decent seating in leather couches and chairs, or bistro tables and chairs as one prefers. Also a nice long bar, with 12-15 stools. Big screen TVs throughout, generally tuned to sports (a positive in my book).
As far as the beer goes, it leaves me wanting. Iāve had their IPAs, a Porter, and a couple lighter styled Pilsners/lagers and just havenāt been impressed. Personally, I much prefer a place like West Seattleās Beer Junction which has a rotating set of taps featuring award-winning beers from places like Modern Times, Crux, Melvin, Ecliptic, Matchless, Reubenās, Revision, etc. If you want to mix in a few āhouse brewsā so be it. But unless you can brew at a level with these guys, then all you really are to me is a room (without a view) forcing me to drink sub-par (IMHO) home brews.
Iām also a wine guy, and would equate this to having a choice between tasting at a winery (all single sourced and proprietor selected) or a wine bar in which a sommelier is curating the bottles (or the taps) and saying, āhere are the three best Pilsners Iāve run across. Iāve got 10 IPAs...4 Hazy, 2 DIPA, 3 West Coast and 1 crazy good one from these guys in the middle of Montana. ETC.ā
Different businesses and business models. But I prefer the variety of a curated ābest ofā tap portfolio and would be more likely to visit more often if that were...

Gig Harbor Brewing has two locations, the Gig Harbor taproom and the actual brewery, which is located in Tacoma. They have a selection of beers and a cider or two on tap. Dead Mans Island IPA is my favorite. The cider on tap is not a GH Brewing product but is popular as well. Give it a try. If you're on the move, they have a self-service cooler loaded full of beers to-go. The taproom is located at the Boatyard right on the Harbor with great views of the harbor and the small pavilion and park next door, which is home to many activities year round.
Hungry? GH Brewing has a small selection of bagged goodies available in-house to snack on. Or directly next-door, the adorable Gig Harbor Trolley is offering up a great menu from burgers, salads, fish-n-chips, and chicken fettuccine. You are free to order up and bring your meal into the taproom to enjoy with a nice cold beer! See you there!
Update: It's February 2025, and Gig Harbor Brewing has just changed ownership. Along with the new owners comes a new name, Evergreen State Brewing. I've already met the new owners, and my first impressions are positive. I loved Gig Harbor Brewing as it was, but I'm looking forward to the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBrought family from out of town to check out Gig Harbor during the parade. Of course there is chaos and lots of people HOWEVER while we are trying to figure out where we can go to get a drink with one of our kids, (I'm not sure if the older gentleman was the owner or what) but the harassment was UNCALLED FOR. We were trying to find a place that was under 21 and over 21+ friendly, so we were super happy to find this place, we walk in trying to see where our under 21 could sit and the gentleman started harassing my family member that the youngster couldnt go inside, okay no worries we go to sit outside and the gentleman comes up to us to say he will be keeping an eye on the under 21 year old. I have never felt so embarrassed and upset with the way he treated my visiting family and family that has lived in Gig Harbor for over 20 years. If he was to come up to us respectfully and not so heated then we would have loved to support this local business...it's an absolute shame to have this experience...
