Hello my fellow food entrepreneurs, Today, I'm very happy to write this review for Tokyo Teriyaki restaurant in Gig Harbor. To me, this is the proverbial, ("Hole in the Wall") restaurant that cooks amazing food! I give total credit to my daughter who found this restaurant because we've lived in Gig Harbor for 10 years and I didn't know it was here. It is located in the same strip mall as the post office! Let me just say, I highly recommend the Chicken Teriyaki dinner, Yakisoba noodles and Miso soup. The restaurant provides a very quaint inside dining experience boasting only about ten tables. The great thing about some smaller restaurants that provide awesome food is the more personal touch. We did order our food "To go" but while we waited we took the opportunity to check out the decor. They have very pretty Japanese pictures on the walls and a carved wooden boat on a side table. The maitre d was very friendly and while we waited gave us two little cups of miso soup to try for free-delicious! I will provide some pictures and in a couple weeks a short video. We really loved the food and the restaurant I think it's absolutely a necessity to try this...
Read moreMy girlfriends like to go here after work sometimes for a dinner date... They love the large portions... And you get 2 meals worth of food with hot dishes. But I do not care for their sushi (too much vinegar in the sumeshi...aka sushi rice) and find the food salty. On my last visit I had Beef "Donburi". Donburi is in quotation marks because the word literally means bowl. When stands like this serve this on a plate, I am immediately worried that they don't know what they're doing... And this: Barely had any beef Was extremely salty Didn't really make sense flavor-wise... Lots of onions in egg with lots of salt and literally 6 small pieces of beef on rice for about $16. Please see my review for Minato in Seattle for a good donburi review.
While I will gently nudge my friends to go somewhere else every time they try to go here again ... I will just order something very small if dragged here.
Many people like it here... But if you eat Japanese cuisine regularly and take it seriously, you will...
Read moreProbably one of the best mom and pop teriyaki joints in the sound. They use white chicken breast for the sweet and sour chicken and the other fried chicken dishes where as most places use dark meat. The owner takes pride in perfectionism which is why the quality of the food is great. Yes sometimes the wait it long but if you want something quick go to McDonald’s shoulder shrug
Also, to those who complain about the sushi, it’s a teriyaki joint. It’s supposed to be mediocre good tasting sushi not top chef japan quality sushi. The sushi is good especially if you don’t want to pay a ton of money to sit in a fancy Japanese restaurant that will skimp you on fish. Another thing to note is that this place gives salad with most dishes. The dressing is a homemade ginger dressing not the usual honey mustard that typically serve at other teriyaki restaurants. There are people who absolutely love it and will buy bottles of it and there are people who don’t love it. Overall one of my...
