I love having a dedicated gluten free bakery in Gilbert! This place is a bit of a mixed bag tho, they text me that it's cinnamon roll day but by the time I get there, an hour or two later they're out of cinnamon rolls, have been for a while and somehow I'm TA. The one time I managed to get one, the cinnamon roll was very good and fresh but that's a long time ago now. I've been disappointed a few times since. They recently had croissant day, my daughter and I drove out of our way for the same (slightly humiliating) experience, they were sold out a long time ago (it wasnt even noon). We got a scone and sat down to eat and watched 10 more customers come in for the same disappointment. If people left instead of buying something they didn't want the place would not do very well. Please, please make more, especially if you're going to text everybody. I would go there three times as often if they ever had what I came for. The atmosphere is tense there too, idk if it's too quiet or if the constant disappointment hangs in the air but I feel very uncomfortable there like I'm somehow doing it wrong. I would still go more often if it wasn't for the weird brand of disappointment they offer on the baked goods.
I actually drive all the way into Phoenix sometimes to go to Jewel's where the scones will rock your world, lemon bars will impress even the most staunch anti-gluten free and chicken & waffles are on the regular menu because they're amazing in there.
I do stop in to Àvec Amore on occasion when I'm driving by but I stop in about every 10th time I think about turning in. I just don't feel the love, I just have to get whatever they have, most everything is just a little dry and tho it's packaged beautifully, I'm always more comfortable...
Read moreMy fiancé and I did a wedding cake tasting at Avec Amoore. We have several wedding guests who are gluten-free and it is important to us to find a delicious and inclusive option. Before the tasting Shari' reached out to discuss the flavors that we were interested in. She offered suggestions and expert advice on additional dairy-free and vegan flavors. She advised us to bring inspiration for our cake decoration design to our tasting. The tasting consisted of 3 cake and frosting flavors of our choosing, which were presented as individual cupcakes (three for me and three for my fiancé). She walked us through each cupcake, and had us rate and discuss each one to choose our favorite flavor combination. The set up of the tasting felt like a mini celebration with plastic champagne flutes for sparkling water to cleanse our palates between flavors. The cupcakes were also in handy to-go boxes to enjoy later as we didn't finish them in one sitting. These were some of the best gluten-free cakes that I have ever had! They do not have the grainy/mealy texture that you tend to get from gluten-free baked goods. These cakes are handmade with love and you can taste it! Shari' herself is very kind and responsive. You can tell she is passionate and loves what she does. We are excited to share her cake with our guests at...
Read moreI had a pre-order for 1 pm pickup today (1/13/24). I arrived 5 mins early. I let the employee at the counter know and she checked with the owner. She came up and let me know that it would be a few mins since they had had a busy morning. And the cake before my order had melted so she was working on that first. I sat down out of the way. And for the next 45 mins watched as the owner took phone calls, spoke with other customers in the front, and spoke with her employees. The two times I was acknowledged and received an “apology” for the wait, it was immediately followed by excuses. I can understand running behind and I wouldn’t have an issue waiting 10 mins. But 45 mins was unacceptable, especially when pre-orders require a week’s notice and a pick up time is provided. The customer service needs improvement if they expect to last a year. And from the observing I was able to do while I waited: One employee packed cinnamon rolls without gloves. Another employee came in and she was going from the back to the counter several times without a hairnet. The employee at the counter could use a bit more training just in overall customer service. There should be better communication with the back and the front counter regarding what baked goods are...
