Beer Barn — Restaurant in Gilbert

Everyone in the SE Valley....if you're in the vicinity of Ray and Higley there's a dynamite new brewpub inside Beer Barn . 28 or so (sometimes a little higher) draft taps. A great take out selection.(Pushing towards 100+). Smart choices with a sharp eye featuring the upper echelon of AZ craft brewers who know their malts, yeasts, & hops.

Wine choices are just as carefully chosen and demonstrate what is bang for the buck and on the upper end of creativity & quality.

No food on-site but you can bring take out in from several nearby eateries at Agritopia next door or in the 'hood.

The last spasm of construction is finishing up where you'll find Beer Barn. They are at the west end of Epicenter at Agritopia. Look for the short galvanized silo. What's brewing in there (snork) will not...

Asked bartender about a particular “stout” beer and whether I could have a taste of it. He informed me “beers with white writing on their boards” could not be sampled. So I inquired as to whether it was sweeter than a different stout beer my partner had ordered to which he replied, “yea, a bit sweeter”. My partner’s stout was/is delicious. When I tell you mine was about as thick as molasses…it was thick, and ungodly sweet, like makes you wince and your teeth hurt from the sweetness I had to take it back. I ordered the same beer my partner had ordered and was promptly charged for a new beer. Seriously?! If you’re not going to allow for a sample of something that comes from a draft - then serve a crappy beer that doesn’t qualify as a stout - and tastes absolutely terrible - don’t charge...

What's not to like? We went here twice during a 4 day stay in the area. Both times were to wait for a table at Buck & Rider in the same plaza. And both times the text came much sooner than expected so we never got to spend more than 15-20 minutes here. But in that short time, we enjoyed the beer options - both on draft and in the cold case. I always go for a barrel aged imperial stout and there were always a couple of options. And the service was very friendly both nights. I also like the indoor/outdoor space. We sat at the bar inside, looking across to the bar and tables outside. Over two nights we had: Mehndi by More Brewing; Double Stack by Great Notion Brewing; The Better to Hear Me With by Tripping Animals Brewing, and Timberbeast by Great Notion. The winner was the...
