The good: the restaurant is small and quaint with a little store filled with knickknacks and a coffee bar in the front. Our server was very good which is reflected in the 3 stars for service. Our appetizer (mozzarella salad) was tasty and their house dressing on the salad that comes with the entrees was delicious. My husband’s eggplant entree was outstanding. The menu is huge and we were informed by our waiter to read it closely bc the kitchen does not like to make any modifications (which is no problem). After reading the menu carefully, I ordered the baked ravioli Marco Polo bc it sounded delicious and did not contain mushrooms. I despise mushrooms and they make me sick if I eat them.
The bad: Within my first few bites I saw a mushroom. I asked our waiter if it was a fluke or if this dish contained mushrooms (the menu did not say it contained mushrooms). The waiter asked the kitchen and they informed him that this dish contained mushrooms. I could no longer eat my entree. Though the waiter was very apologetic (hence the 3 stars for service), we learned that Romeo’s has a policy of never comping food. So, I paid for my entree that I couldn’t eat and was not offered an alternative. Thankfully, my husband likes mushrooms, so he’ll eat the leftovers. So, buyer beware: they don’t do modifications (which is no problem if the menu is thorough and you know what you’re ordering), they don’t thoroughly list ingredients on their menu, and they don’t comp meals for any reason. Every patron should be aware that they might add ingredients to a dish, unbeknownst to you, that you don’t like or are allergic to, and you will still have to pay for your meal that you can’t eat or that made you sick (and you will not be offered an alternative). So while the food I was able to eat was excellent (hence the 2 stars), it’s hard to highly rate a restaurant that puts undisclosed ingredients in a dish and then essentially says “tough luck” if you can’t or...

Although my husband and I visited on a busy Friday, we were surprised to be seated right away! The cafe is very inviting, intimate, comfortable and perfect for a date-night. I felt like I was living "Lady in the Tramp" spaghetti scene in the small town of Gilbert Arizona. There are plenty of options for different wines, appetizers, entrees and baked goods.
For a small cafe it was very busy but our waitress was hustling! I was worried from previous reviews about the service and it was absolutely fine. She was very attentive, checked on us frequently and almost seemed to be flying between different tables. My husband and I appreciated her help and service.
My husband and I have never seemed to have so much trouble ordering food but this cafe has such an incredible menu and variety of options! Exactly as the location indicates, it focuses on Italian, Mediterranean and overall "European" cuisine. We ended up deciding to go more Greek and ordered: the Greka, Gyro Skins and the Seafood Santorini. The Greka was a baked dish made up of different olives, peppers and feta. It was good but not the most memorable. They Gyro Skins were baked potatoes with gyro meat and tzatziki sauce. My husband enjoyed this the most; however I thought the tzatziki sauce had too much garlic. The Seafood Santorini was similar to the Greka, good but not something I would order again.
Overall, my husband and I loved the location, the venue and atmosphere. Although we weren't blown away by our dishes, it was probably just our selection. We still can't wait to go back...
Read moreSo my husband and I went here often 25 years ago when we were newlyweds and for every anniversary for years. so we thought we would go for our 25th anniversary. Bad choice.Paige our server could not get rid of us fast enough. We were there at 5 pm for dinner, empty restaurant. She brought salad b4 apititzer then never came back with the balsamic that she suggested until we were done with foccia apititzer. then while I was still eating she came and asked my husband to box up his food, came back and asked if I was done yet while I was still chewing. I tipped normal, should have tipped 0. Was it because we were not drinking alcohol? We wanted coffee and dessert, that's what we used to do for many years for our anniversary at this restaurant. But her rudeness when I told her it made me uncomfortable that she took his food away so fast. Her reaction of snippidy rudeness made us not comfortable staying in restaurant at all! Am I crazy to think it is rude for a server to be so quick to take away 1 persons food? To me it's basic manners. Both plates or neither. It's uncomfortable sitting there eating alone, but not. A grocery bag of to go's sitting next us didn't make me want to get desert added to her attitude. Food was good as usual host was super nice. Probably won't be back. She definitely put a huge damper on a 25th wedding...
