Let me start out by saying that I tried to eat at this restaurant yesterday. I showed up at 8:45 and nobody was there. It was closed even though it clearly shows they were open till 9:30. This is frustrating, but I thought I would give them a second chance. The restaurant is small inside seating about 40 at tables and about 12 at the bar. When I walked in I had multiple employees look over at me, not one said anything. I sat there uncomfortably waiting for someone to greet and seat me. It took a minute or two, but I was finally seated. The restaurant seemed clean although the walls could use a coat of paint. After being seated I was handed a erasable menu and a drink was offered. Unfortunately the waitress was very timid and didn't explain that it was reverse happy hour and didn't mention the 3 roll combo to me. I figured it out, but restaurants should always ask if it is your first time and explain the intricacies of their restaurant. I order 3 rolls. The Crunch roll Tootsy roll and the Crazy Shrimp roll. The Crunch roll and Tootsy we're okay. For the price the were good. The Crazy Shrimp roll was by far the best roll, although the most expensive as well. My meal came to $25, which was a decent price (although two of the rolls were cheaper because of the reverse happy hour). Was this the best sushi I have had?? No, but overall I was full and happy so I would recommend giving them a try. If they would engage with the customers a little better and give the walls a new coat of paint it would make this restaurant shine.

I have to say this is in my top 3 sushi restaurant choices in Arizona. I've reviewed and been to many sushi spots, and I am consistent in what I am looking for. First, how busy is the restaurant when I come in? When I went in, I was the first that day right at opening. The service was quick, and I felt like there were a good range of options. The second thing I consider is how pricy each item is. I found that the prices were very reasonable. If I can get a sushi roll around $5 or less, that's a great find. Luckily, you can get away with spending $10 per person. Lastly, I judge the food it's self. A spicy salmon handroll is always my go-to. It's a great roll to pick when you want to consider texture, flavor, and portion size. Everywhere I go, everyone does it a little differently. In this case, the texture was minced and creamy. The flavor was interesting, as I could taste the Sriracha in the first bite, but I couldn't tell if they mixed their salmon with anything spicy or not. This is a good indicator to tell if their spicy rolls will have a kick or not. The size was great, I felt like I got a good portion of fish. I did order a calamari appetizer as well as their stuffed mushroom. Everything came out hot and fresh, and the flavors were great. The stuffed mushrooms.... were stunning. Overall, this cozy restaurant was wonderful, and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a chill, comforting environment. The sushi is great, the service and prices match just perfectly.

Sushi is decent but I personally don't like it too much. The owners and employees are super friendly, I'll give them that. I think the most enjoyable was the pot stickers. The rolls have a bit too many sesame seeds and the cucumber was mostly peel which was kinda gross. My fiance had the spicy tuna and it made her sick with how fishy it was. I was a little disappointed seeing sushi was in the name of the restaurant. There's a huge sushi market in this area and unfortunately you can get much better elsewhere. Very mediocre food. The fish quality was not super fresh. Teriyaki salmon tasted weird. It was not like authentic Japanese teriyaki salmon. More like pan fried then slathered with teriyaki sauce and served with regular rice. It was not good rice. Should have been served with some quality Japanese short grain rice. We ordered tobiko (flying fish roe) nigiri for my kid another time and it was bad! Bad as in spoiled! It reeked of an ammonia smell. I hope everyone has this basic knowledge that if something smells off and especially like a chemical... You should NOT eat it. I nearly threw up each time I opened the togo container to reinspect thinking it's just me. I ordered this during evening time, so I'm sure the tobiko was used in other dishes throughout the day. I hope no one got sick! The restaurant is very stuffy. The moment you walk in, you will leave smelling of food. I really wanted to like this place, and was hoping for it to be my go to when I wanted sushi, but sadly I don't be returning. I will confirm that the staff is nice. This place has so much potential. It really needs some TLC. Quality control, a makeover, and...
