Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Gilbert

EDIT 6/15/25: I demoted this down to a one star review. Today, I went back to this location because it is in the same parking lot as the Target I go to. I ordered a smoothie and a flatbread. I could already tell something was wrong by how much the paper used to wrap the flatbread was sopping wet with oil from the pesto. It’s never been like that before today. When I started unwrapping the food, it was literally not even folded. The flatbread was literally flat on the paper and that’s why the oil got everywhere. The same guy, Thor; was working today and had a very sarcastic attitude when my name came up, because I mobile ordered. It’s like he knew about my first review and made my order a mess on purpose.

I would just like to start by saying I don’t typically leave negative reviews of places unless my experience left a particularly bad taste in my mouth (metaphorically). Right off the bat I can tell the pair of workers there were struggling to keep up with the load of business they had, especially considering there was only two of them. No one said a single word to me for 7-10 minutes, not even a “hello”, “welcome in”, or “sorry, it’ll be one minute”. After some observation though I could see just how hard the woman of the two was busting her ass to get everything out in a timely manner. I heard her ask for help a few times with tasks as simple as getting more ice (a key component to making their drinks) to which she was SCOFFED at by her male coworker. I didn’t get the woman’s name, but the dude’s name was Thor and I gotta say, I don’t really think he’s worthy of a name the same as a superhero. When I was able to get the girl’s attention and ask if the two drinks sitting behind the counter were mine, she asked me if I had any food items to which I replied that yes I have one. When she asked him if it was ready his initial response was another scoff, moan, followed by, “I’M BUSY-UH”. Like okay kid, you’re literally moving like a sloth preparing these food items. The disrespect was so discouraging to see. And he was using the same pair of gloves the whole time even after touching various dirty surfaces. I wouldn’t wanna keep going somewhere that allows stuff like this to happen. SHOUTOUT THE GIRL THOUGH. This was around...

I got the new açaí bowl with Nutella. Few issues.

The bowl was frozen and half the size I was expecting. This place was ran by kids and all they did was chit chat the entire time I was there. Minus the 1 girl up front that had 0 personality. If you are going to hire children to run this place, at least have a baby sitter so they do there job. The smoothie we ordered took way too long with no one else in the building. There was 5 employees there is no reason any of this should have happened.

They all need to be fired and find better employees! What ever happened to customer service and workers having good out going personality’s!

​I just had to leave a review after my fantastic experience at Tropical Smoothie Cafe, and it was all thanks to Sandy and Trey! From the moment I walked in, they were both so welcoming and friendly. They went above and beyond to make sure my order was perfect and made some great recommendations. Sandy's smile and Trey's helpfulness truly made my day.
