Checkers — Restaurant in Glassboro

My boyfriend had never been to Checkers before so we were near one and decided to go so he could try it out. Number 1 I signed up for rewards online and downloaded the app on my phone and was given a free sandwich with first purchase. We place our order which was a spicy or buffalo BBQ crunchy chicken sandwich which is not available online but was shown on display at checkers so I wanted to try it, it looked delicious. So I ordered a large meal with seasoned fries and peak sweet ice tea to drink. My only request was extra sauce on sandwich. Then my boyfriend order the triple BBQ bacon before cheese burger also a large with seasoned fries and dr.pib to drink. Then he wanted to try the chili cheese onion hotdogs so we ordered a mix and match double 2 for $6, we ordered the two chili cheese onion hotdogs and the double sea fish sandwich, which I requested tomatos and extra tarter sauce be put on double fish sandwich. Then we also ordered loaded bacon ranch seasoned fries and our free sandwich offer which we had a choice between mother cruncher chicken sandwich or a big bulford burger sandwich and we chose the big buford burger sandwich. Cashier said was $39 and change and that was too high so I questioned her at the window and she was kinda rude and went through the order again and I said I knwo but we had the big buford burger free due to rewards app and she said we don't honor that and I said well can u scan my rewards member number so I can get credit for this purchase she said no we don't do that either. I said that makes no sense why offer it then and she said do u want us to remove the sandwich I said yes im not paying for somemthing that was suppose to be free so she went and got help to do so. We were being rushed a so noticed there were no utensils or napkins in bag and we were missing a large order of fries. So I sat outside the drive thru window for quite awhile before she finally open the window and with lil attitude asked what I needed an di said we are missing a large fry... I said would you liek order back and also handed her receipt she glanced at it and so ok and walked away and brought back a large fry which wasn't even full. Then I went to ask for napkins utensils and condiments and the window was closed on us. I sat there for a moment and then left when I was not acknowledged again. Then we get home to find out that our food was poor quality, wrong items, some barely warm and old looking and taste was poor as well probably due to the poor quality of food and being old. My chicken sandwich had brown lettuce and hardly any condiments. Sauce lettuce or I guess what u think wa script onion things on it and taste was dry n so was the bun. My fries were barely warm but my large fry was full. Drinks were fine. My boyfriend didn't get a triple bacon BBQ buford burger he got a double and condiments old n smallest piece of bacon on it... I took pics of all our food. His large fry was filled half way n barely warm as well. Then the chili hotdogs had no cheese on them or diced onion and the chili was dried up as if was old and sitting there for while. The double sea fish sandwich was old tasting hardly any tarter sauce when asked for extra and tiny dried up piece of tomato on it and barely any lettuce which was brown. And the piece of cheese was hard and dried discolored yellow cheese and roll was old and dry, like stale. The loaded bacon and ranch fries tasted awful and was barely any fries for a $4plus side and cold. Then finally the free big buford sandwich, they did end up including was a single cheese burger wasn't even the big buford burger. But honestly was the better tasting burger and sandwich out of everything ordered. I use to love checkers and by far this was the worst experience I have had and I went to this location one other time like 2/3 yrs ago but for my boyfriend who never had checkers before it was an awful experience. I did try calling restaurant after we got home and no one answered. Because I was ready to drive back there and give their food back and get a refund. We don't plan...

It was a long long time ago but I think it was in 1995 when I was working on a house in South Philly and while out on a materials run I passed by a Checkers fast food store that I had never even heard of before. Since there were times when I needed a meal during the day and there were not a lot of other affordable places to go around there I decided to give them a try and see if they were worth visiting again. I don't remember what I ordered that first time but I'm pretty sure it was some sort of burger and an order of fries. Upon receiving my meal I opened the bag and saw that the fries were not the normal nasty fries that other fast food places use but rather looked like they had some good flavor to them and were not all dried out from being overcooked. To my delight I honestly thought I had found the best fries of any fast food place but knew that since that was the only Checkers I had ever seen anywhere and since my visits to South Philly are few and far between I realized that once that job was done so were my days of having good fries with my burger which also had a better than average flavor to it as well.

It was only a few months later though that I was doing a job way up in Camden County where depending upon the route I took to get there I saw that there was a Checkers that had opened up near the high speed line in Lindenwold. I of course took several opportunities to have a meal there while in the area and then I heard the good news that there was going to be one opening in Glassboro, although it is only about a half hour from home which is too far to run out for a quick bite it was closer to where a lot of the work I was doing was located so once again I found myself there for lunch at least a couple times a month. I also began to notice other Checkers opening all around South Jersey and Delaware and thought we were onto a treat to have so many that if you did need a meal and really felt like eating fast food you finally had a choice of somewhere to go.

Of course as with all good things coming to an end so did the Glassboro Checkers for whatever reason I'm not sure but my guess is that it had to do with management hiring people who did not want to work but just put in their time till closing. Service there was getting bad to where that if I had my druthers I would either pack a meal or just not have lunch. I was glad a few years ago though when the store was moved and reopened as it gave me a chance to get some good fries again and since work had died down with the bad economy I wasn't going to other spots that still had restaurants open.

I have only been here a handful of times since they reopened but the service has always been good and the young ladies who work there don't just grunt as they throw your food at you like they did before it closed at the other location. The reason I am only giving them 3 stars is because on two of those visits they were out of a main ingredient in their burgers that should not have happened. I don't remember the first time but with this visit they have signs for a mushroom burger of some sort but when I went to order it they had no mushrooms so I had to make another selection. Oh well things happen and it's not the end of the world, almost...

Usually not the type to leave reviews but when I do it's for a reason. I went through drive through with my husband daughter and grand daughter orderd a regular chicken sandwich two mozzarella stick a a bbq mother cruncher ndthen my daughter asked what was on the BBQ mother cruncher then asked what was on the baconzilla and ordered that without mayo when we got our order we pulled over to a spot to check just incase and to get thepop baby her food first but her box was all the way at the bottom of the bag so we pull everything out and check it all as we go I hand my daughter the box she opens it says there is a hair on her chicken so she takes all of our food back inside and say we want a refund there is a hair in the babies food and the order is wrong we didn't order the mother cruncher we ordered the baconzilla after asking about what was on it but he changed the regular chicken sandwich into the cruncher and then they tried to refuse me a refund said none of them have white air of pets but it's not like our own hair jumped down to the bottom of the bag lifted the lid and jumped into the food so I ignored his remark but then he said it was a waste for them like it was my fault they gave me the wrong order and put hairs in my own food just to hear my grand daughter cry after having to return it . They tried to give me something else but like any smart person who has two bad experiences bow at this joint I was no longer interested in a third chance and just wanted my money back and had to demand it at that . Then he snatched the bag tossed it in the garbage while the food fell everywhere to the floor some In The can gave me my refund and then shut the window I apologized even if I seemened unreasonable but I knew I wasn't. avoid...
