This is my go to grocery store now to get all the stuff other places are failing at in a post COVID world — ShopRite.
Lidls caters to the kind of person who shops around. I have figured out with time that I get better prices, variety, and quality of food spending an extra 20 minutes in my week looking around.
For instance, I go to Verchios/farmers for produce and a bakery for bread. Therefore, If you are looking to bulk up on Kraft Mac and cheese for the army at home, or wanting to touch organic avocados with misters activating over your herbs in the background like you are in the rainforest, this might be disappointing store for you. The place doesn’t have everything, but it has a decent selection.
So Lidls is that last mile. The meat/dairy/snacks/dry goods/frozen foods are of higher quality for the price, which is reasonable. Does ShopRite’s Bowl and Basket have chicken breast for a 50 cents less on sale with coupons etc? Sure, but wow…. At times it felt like I was eating a car tire.
Lidl has yet to give me any sort of these quality issues and the selection is never picked over…
Anyway, It’s always clean, well staffed, and I can get in and out of the store in 10 minutes. Some people will complain about the bread, lack of produce, and their favorite cereal missing.
I understand people are struggling in this economy and having to save money, but food is health and Lidls helped me stay healthy. Replace you 6$ cheerios with a parfait or something… I think the days of one stop shopping at a single store are long gone due to supply chains, labor shortages, etc.
Did I mention no self checkouts with weird cameras and broken scales and all this other garbage to prevent a kid from stealing a pack of gum? That’s a...
Read moreWent back several more times since my last review in 2021 and service has greatly improved. Now, highly recommend as of January 2024. Limit variety but prices are usually very good. Upgraded from 2 to 5 stars.
Went there the evening of 9/24/21. Cashier and managers didn’t know their own prices. We were left standing there, holding up the checkout line with no one doing anything. Had to tell the cashier to get the manager back again to resolve. She was there once already to correct a sale price and the next item was an issue too. I went and took the sale price sign from the shelf and brought it to the cashier and manager who now came back to the checkout cashier. The manager had a very snotty attitude and gave us credit for the correct sale price. Horrible experience. Lidl needs to clean house. Good prices and good products so I’ll probably go back. Bottom line, poorly run store, pay attention at checkout to ensure you’re properly charged. I’ll go to Aldi next time and avoid Lidl most of the time...
Read moreSo after reading other reviews about this place, there seems to be a little bit of a disconnect or misunderstanding about this place.. look up lidl in Europe and you'll see that they thrive on excellent quality and price above all. In the USA, the laws and regulations are clearly different so lidl has adjusted. Lidl is essentially a fancier version of Aldi. They have the basics, but they also have quality food as well, for instance they carry Rastelli's filet mignon. The prices are also very fair. If you aren't a brand name person, this store will give you everything you need. There are some items you can get cheaper, but that's kind of the game you play when it comes to grocery shopping! Staff are very friendly and helpful, and sales items go fast! Just like at any...
