Full blown honest review of my first time experience here:
I stopped by at Dinah's Chicken after getting off work around 5:30pm. I heard many great things about this place and I wanted to see what all the hype was about.
I was greeted by a kind gentleman who happened to be the manager at this very homey and cozy establishment. I forgot his name, but it was either Daniel or David. Shame on me for not remembering!!!
I didn't know what to get so the manager was keen on helping me get a nice beginner combo. (Price is decent. Especially in this f'ed up economy.)
Manager offered me a stuffing sample and pineapple coleslaw sample. The stuffing was 7/10 and the pineapple coleslaw was a 9/10. And I HATE coleslaw; but this one was AMAZING!!!
Food took about 12 minutes to come out and it was hot! .
Got home and started eating. The food was okay. I expected better, but I think all the hype got my expectations too high because I've been waiting a whole week to try this place.
Mac n Cheese: the noodles were a little undercooked. I didn't taste any seasoning whatsoever. But the cheese was kicking pretty good. 5/10
Pineapple Coleslaw: OMG!!!!! Amazing! I f*ing HATE coleslaw, but this will definitely make me come back! 9/10 and not a lower grade!
Chicken: The chicken was decent. I got a bad leg piece because it was very chewy and looked very dark. It happens. I worked in a restaurant and chicken is not for the inexperienced. * The thighs however were pretty good! * the chicken had only a slight crunch and the seasoning was decent but it definitely tasted unique in a way where you can't get chicken like it from anywhere else. Overall 7/10
The service was amazing! I loved the attitude from everyone working! 10/10 The food however was decent. 7.3/10
Summary: The manager makes me definitely want to come back. Manager D, you did fantastic and you deserve a raise since you are the tipping point to what makes me really want to come back and support this business! This 3 star review isn't a bad one. I am being fully honest and I am 100% coming back. I want a rematch and my mind blown when I return! I will update this review and change the rating when I try more of the menu and get amazed! I WILL BE BACK DINAH's...
Read moreI am writing to express my deep disappointment with the recent experiences at Dinah's Chicken. As a regular customer, I have always appreciated your food and atmosphere. However, the service quality and conduct of your employees have been consistently unsatisfactory.
Your staff members have shown a dismissive attitude when approached for assistance or solutions to problems. This lack of helpfulness is disheartening and reflects poorly on your establishment's customer service.
One of your cashiers displays concerning behavior that suggests they may be under the influence of a controlled substance. Their slurred speech, struggling to articulate clearly, and repeating everything three times are red flags. This raises concerns about employee well-being and customer safety.
Furthermore, there is a need for an elevated level of entitlement when addressing customer concerns. I have encountered a lack of willingness to go the extra mile, leaving customers feeling unheard and dissatisfied.
To address these issues, I kindly request the following actions:
Conduct a thorough investigation into the behavior of your employees, particularly the cashier exhibiting concerning symptoms.
Reinforce customer service training to emphasize attentiveness, problem-solving, and a proactive approach to resolving customer concerns.
Implement measures to create a culture of empowerment and higher entitlement levels among your employees.
Regularly review and assess staff performance to maintain professionalism and excellent customer service.
I hope that you will take these concerns seriously and take prompt action to rectify the situation. I believe in the potential of Dinah's Chicken to regain its reputation as an outstanding establishment.

Read moreDinah's is the quintessential classic fried chicken spot! Located on the east side of Los Angles—this place is a hidden gem tucked amidst the swank Galleria shopping district in the foothill enclave of Glendale, California just beneath the Vergudo Mountains. The ambiance is a perfect blend of folksy and traditional with carved wooden furniture and ornamental decór laid about in a fashion not dissimilar to what one might expect to see in an old guard Dixieland dining room of a grand home in the southern United States. The seats, tables, and flatware were all exceptionally clean and the restroom areas were also noticeably well-kept. Service was top-notch with polite and pleasant staff readily available at every turn. Food was served within minutes of placing our orders and came out piping hot with generous portions and no room for regrets. We ordered the Chicken Dinners, which come with three pieces of perfectly crispy golden fried chicken along with two sides and a dinner roll. My order included mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni and cheese, and an extra chicken drumstick for $1 as part of the Friday Special. The potatoes were rich and smooth. The mac was creamy, oozing with cheese, and it had a perfect bite to the pasta. And the dinner rolls were as to be expected. I could not have been happier, as this place satisfied my every craving for southern comfort food without all of the off-putting qualities of a standard, fast-food chicken spot. If you're in the mood for a good fried chicken dinner the way it should be done, at a reasonable price, Dinah's is the way to go. Five Stars...
