This place is NOT a restaurant - it is a banquet hall and/or catering company - for small events like weddings, etc. so do not go there thinking you can arrive, read a menu and order food from it and stay to enjoy it. I suggested to a friend that we look for an authentic Armenian place in Glendale to try something new - drove all the way out to Glendale to try this place (coming from Monrovia) and when we walked into their patio area expecting that we could be seated and have lunch the woman - who was fetched from inside by one of two men who were Armenian-only speakers - started off by asking us if we spoke Armenian and then when I said "no" gave us a gesture meaning, "Well, what do you want?". I asked, "Could we get a table for two?" (the place had lots of empty tables and at 12:15 there was not one single person eating lunch there) she looked at me like I was asking for the most bizarre request, like she couldn't believe what she was hearing. Then she finally said in very limited words that they are open for special events only, and not a regular restaurant where you can sit down and order food, even though their sign clearly has the word "RESTAURANT" under their name on the big sign out in front. Oh well. We went down the street and spent $50 on lunch with someone else where Armenian was not the required language and they allowed us to...
Read moreI ate here for lunch with my husband today and asked the bartender if the restaurant’s dinner menu has more Armenian staple dishes such as “mante”. He then changed what I said and misled the owner to believe that I had said something else. The bartender took what I said out of context and unfortunately instead of the owner clarifying with us he got very defensive and scolded us for something we literally didn’t even say. We gracefully tried to clarify on three occasions and got interrupted each time. I am an Armenian from Dallas and was so excited to support another Armenian during my visit in Chicago but am sadly disappointed in this game of “telephone” turning into a big escalation. I don’t appreciate that the bartender misconstrued what I said and started drama and I am upset that the owner ran with it without first clarifying with the customer. This could have all been avoided and is a big case of miscommunication that should have been handled better. The food was good but unfortunately I couldn’t enjoy...
