I recently bought a 4 month old albino leopard gecko from them (My first Gecko purchase). The staff seemed knowledgeable and friendly enough however while I was there one of the assistants pulled out a very young fat tailed leopard gecko that I wanted to look at more closely. The gecko convulsed and died in front of our eyes after being fed a small cricket. Not sure if that was the employee's fault or not but I went against my better judgement and continued to look at their gecko selection. (silly me...) After purchasing the 4 month old albino leopard gecko and having it in my possession for about 4 weeks I decided to take it to a friend to look at because I was concerned about its small tai/skinny body, runny stool, and lethargic behavior. My friend informed me the gecko seemed critically ill and was showing many symptoms of "STICK TAIL DISEASE." I had no idea what that was but I am glad I brought it to my more knowledgeable friend when I did! Tomorrow I will be giving the store a call to see if they had any idea they were selling me a critically ill gecko... IF all goes well I will improve this review. Can not believe I payed 100+ dollars for a dying gecko. BE VIGILANT OF THE REPTILES YOU BUY HERE AND WATCH FOR SIGNS OF STICK TAIL AS IT IS VERY CONTAGIOUS AMONG REPTILES IN...
Read moreSomeone obviously doesn’t know how to count. Basic mathematics. If you think you’re paying $15.99 + Tax for 25 ct roaches guess again. I got one yesterday and 15 min later when I got home and put them in a special container to count them up and gut load them so that my inverts have an actual nutritious meal, there where only 20 ct in there out of which 1 was dead. Most likely all the jars are miss counted and for the feeders I can say for sure after yesterday, that they are all dehydrated and gut empty therefore all of you out there that buy here and think that the meal is nutritious just because it’s alive, it’s not! It’s an empty meal which will affect the well being of your animal in the long run. They were “inhaling” drops of water before feeding on anything. I was trying to make a point on what is happening in the hopes that the person would offer a solution at least, which you have guessed right, was never presented to me. ALSO PRICES ARE INFLATED on everything such as tanks and accessories. You’re better off buying at Petco or Petsmart for at least $10 less on the tanks with a guarantee of return. Be...
Read moreDean at Tropical Imports in Glendale was extremely helpful and patient. I was able to return a small African cichlid bought 2 days before, by another family member who thought it would be ok in a 10 gallon tank. This time, Dean answered ALL of my questions and helped me select everything I needed to keep a Betta. We bought a different (adjustable flow) pump ( Aqua Clear 20), a siphon, gravel substrate, Microbe- lift Nite-out ll, a live plant, proper food (Ocean Nutrition Betta Pellets), a water testing kit (API Freshwater Master test kit). He said we could use zest strips but it would be cheaper in the long run to get the kit. Dean even talked me through the weekly cleaning process. Then we found and bought the most gorgeous Betta in the store.! Our little guy seems so active, but relaxed in his new home. He comes to the glass when we walk in and is already a source of great joy. He's not easy to photograph, but I will try. Thanks Tropical Imports and...
