I drive by BBQ Station almost daily because it's right down the street from my home. It's been many months of anticipation. Not gonna lie, I've been really excited about this joint opening up. That made my first visit that much more disappointing.
I have been smoking meats most of my life in a barrel smoker. From 12 hour briskets, tri tips, chicken, turkey, sausage and my favorite beef ribs. I was also an OTR big rig driver. I have traveled to all the southern states for work and Texas was hands down my favorite place for BBQ. As a big rig driver there's not much else to do than to go to restaurants and eat good food.
Around SoCal the BBQ is okay there's generic spots like Lucille's and Dickies the food is decent and affordable. There's some spots like Canyon City BBQ & Love Chicken & Ribs that have very tasty BBQ but more importantly the food is fresh and the prices are decent. For me nothing beats homemade but sometimes when I'm not in the mood to grill I want good affordable BBQ and there are plenty of options.
BBQ Station, unless you clean up your act and do some market research we will not be coming back.
But why?
Let's do some pros & cons for BBQ Station Glendora:
Pro's Restaurant is brand new Restaurant is spacious Restaurant is clean Potato buns are great Slaw is good
Cons: Prices (This restaurant is on Route 66 not Dubai) Food quality Plastic in house or take out (Come on Y'all, Plastic is bad for so many reasons) Employees not knowledgeable about what they're serving
Prices:
Everything is a la carte and it's kind of like cafeteria style. You walk in, get in line and go through the line. Hot section has mashed potatoes, mac & cheese and some other items. Cold section has salads including potato salad. We grabbed mashed potatoes, slaw, potato salad and I inquired about the beef ribs. The guy at the cutting board tried his best to sell me 1 rib for $77 dollars. 1 rib that had a huge layer of fat, don't get me wrong here, I love some fat on my meat but 1 rib for $77 was out of the question. I said, "wait, 1 rib is $77 dollars? No thanks, I'll try the brisket." 808 Local Hawaiian will give you 4 of those big ribs for $15.
Food quality:
I got some sad beef brisket Y'all. It has a beautiful smoke ring so you know it was good on day 1 but who knows how old this brisket is. I'm making a collage to show you a side by side of a fresh beef brisket VS the BBQ Station re-heated brisket.
The mashed potatoes felt like they came from a box. A little too salty and the texture was rubbery or gooey which is weird for potatoes. The potato salad had a bit too much mustard for my taste.
The star of the show was the saddest part! The BBQ sauces came out of the dispenser like water! The yellow one almost splashed on my wife! Three of 4 BBQ sauces were watery. Not a good look.
Read the 1 star reviews for BBQ Station. Others are disappointed and mentioned they will not be coming back. You failed to impress BBQ Station. Unless you guys fix your problems, I highly doubt we'll spend any of our time or money here.
The staff:
I asked the person at the salad station about the ingredients in the potato salad and she asked another person and they asked someone else and the question went around to 5 employees before they told us what was in and it seemd that the person who told us the ingredients was just guessing. People with allergies beware.
There's a 5 star review on here with a picture of the brisket. I invite you to zoom into that picture and see the brown re-heated brisket that this person says "should be expensive." Good BBQ is...
Read moreLet me start by saying I don’t like reviewing places because most people that review are complainers. I also feel before a negative review (yes a 4 is negative as well) I would contact the establishment because I know life is not perfect. I would speak to the manager or owner to address my concern. If my concern was not addressed, I would not go back and or give a 1 Star review because I felt my review was something that needed to be shared so others could make a solid decision.
Now let’s talk about BBQ Station- Price- $$$ - worth every penny though Food Quality- * Service-* Cleanliness-* Atmosphere-*
The place just opened and there were a lot of people in line and dining. I went today (Sunday) at about 6:30pm. They ran out of a lot of meats. Not great for everyone in line behind me but also means fresh meat and high demand.
The owners or management, a male and female greeted people in line and walked up to customers ensuring all questions were answered and service was met. Fully staffed and friendly people.
1/2 lb of meat is between $17-$19 but is a lot of food. I eat a lot of meat and really feel to shoot for a 1/3 lb per person. Sides are $7 small and $14 large. We got beef and turkey that were absolutely great. We got mashed potatoes that were good. Beans were very good. Mac N Cheese was one of the best I ever had. Most places don’t know how to make Mac N Cheese.
A few people on the reviews are complaining about price. They might be 1/2 right…It’s not cheap. I spent a little over $200 to feed 8 people. I rather pay a little more and have great food and a great atmosphere. Everything in life really comes down to the experience. Because my experience was great, I will be back.
I did voluntarily tell the person I thought might be the owner that I wanted to review if the food was as good as it looked. Well I guess it was.
Welcome to Glendora!
Cheers to...
Read moreLIFE'S TOO SHORT FOR BAD BRISKET AND BAD BBQ! (I've been missing really good smoked brisket! Like I miss being a size 4!) A co-worker suggested BBQ Station to me a few months back. He claimed that the Brisket was delicious juicy and tender! I asked, "as tender as a mamas love?" He replied "YES!" I knew then, I just had to try it! I finally made it to BBQ Station last Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately traffic was horrific getting there and by the time I arrived, I was flustered and hungry! I forgot to check in and take photos. Thankfully, food is served my favorite way, in a serving line! Just like my favorite Texas BBQ joints (GOD BLESSED TEXAS)! I ordered the following; Potato Salad, Tangy Slaw, Ranch Beans, Mac n' Cheese, sausages, pulled pork and smoked brisket!!! (I know, that's a lot of food! Don't worry, I shared it) All I can say is, the food is KISSES FROM HEAVEN!!! It was so good, I could slap my ex husband! I'm thrilled that I was able to experience BBQ Station! The sides were homemade! I loved the potato salad and tangy slaw! The brisket was perfectly smoked and seasoned, and yes it as tender as a mama's love! I'm also ecstatic that I ordered the cheese and hot pepper sausage (I forget was type of pepper it was), it was delicious! I'll definitely be returning and taking photos next time! You're doing God's work, BBQ Station!
Ps. I wear size medium...
