Always love to see new places moving into golden. Although I have moved away from college golden is still very much my home town. I was surprised that the old Starbucks was gone but excited to see that another coffee place had moved in.
Upon walking in I was welcomed with a bright and open update to the space. Definitely an upgrade from the darker inside of the Starbucks. Definitely could use a little more light in the back in my opinion but it definitely sets a vibe and would be an awesome place to study, meet some friends or cry over your latest breakup.
As for the menu, definitely smaller than a Starbucks but that’s to be expected. Easy to look past though, when the coffee is as good as it is. I ordered a double espresso ($4.80 tax and 1.50 tip included). Easy 4/5. Along with the coffee there are plenty of little snacks and pastries to order if your feeling like a bite to eat. The best part of the menu is definitely the bonfire burritos for breakfast. One of my favorite places in golden to get breakfast and now I can get some coffee with, amazing. As for the prices, about what I would expect. Same as what you would pay at Starbucks, maybe a little more but negligible difference.
The staff were nice and quick. There was not a crowd of people but there was definitely a good line. It moved fast and my drink came out fast. Not quite the same “welcome in” and “have a good day” as you would expect from a Starbucks and the ‘enthusiasm’ was not Starbucks level. If that’s a deal breaker for you then dang guess this place is not for you and I’m sorry your life sucks so much.
Over all:

The day after flying into Denver, Cassey, Caleb and I went to Golden to do some exploring. I asked if we could stop somewhere for coffee since that’s my jam and so we took to exploring the downtown area of Golden for that sweet sweet caffeine hit.
We had a few options but Red Silo won since I was looking for a more traditional coffeehouse versus some place that just served coffee. So, we dipped in and got in line for some espresso delish.
But! Their espresso machine was currently broken so I was heartbroken to not get my usual americano. With that depressing news, I had to think quick for something else. I settled on a cold brew and eyed the delicious-looking baked goods in the display case as Cassey placed her order.
While you can sit in and enjoy your coffee, we were on an adventure so we took our drinks to-go. Plus with all the foot traffic coming and going, it might not be the most relaxing place to sip and sit.
The cold brew was pretty decent. My brain is pretty hardwired for americanos so it took a few sips to adjust to the cold brew but once I did, it was pretty tasty. Not my usual cup of…. tea but not bad overall. Maybe adding some flavor to this would’ve kicked it up a notch since I was out of my norm but it was pretty decent and did it’s job.
The baristas were super friendly and accommodating to trying to make the drinks people wanted besides us. Having a broken espresso machine must be stressful for the staff but the baristas took it in stride and did great.
If you find yourself wandering around Golden and need some coffee for your walk, Red Silo will get...
Read moreAs a dog training business we frequent many coffee shops. When training service dogs, coffee shops are one of the go to spots for tons of people with disabilities! When staff are rude, uneducated on the ADA, or are crass when someone tries to educate them in that field I find it imperative to notify other people that might also have disabilities and/or service dogs.
So that they are not subjected to rude and uneducated staff!
We are not affiliated with any competitors, as I do not own a coffee shop but a DOG TRAINING BUSINESS!
We give reviews to lots of coffee shops because it’s one of the places we frequently visit while doing training.
If you would like us to come by an educate your staff we would love the opportunity, but an apology feels necessary first!
Thanks so much and adventure on!

We are very aware of the health code rules and regulations and federal laws around service animals. As a Disabled Veteran who owns a Dog Training business and uses a service dog(s) myself for almost 10 years now.
My personal Service Dog Stella was clearly identified with her vest and very large patches.
Please speak with the barista and get the whole story.
We are blatantly aware of false service dogs and the incredible negative impact that they have on individuals that depend on our service dogs to simply be able to go enjoy a cup of coffee.
But educating your staff to slow down and look, listen, and think before speaking to honestly anyone but especially those with disabilities is imperative to more inclusive, safe, and...
